Chrono Needs a rebalance?
|
**Main things to read
Starting with... **why people play chrono? For the looks/thematic, and its only because of that, every single node(except hourglass of time) its pure memes, and its been like that since release. The ONLY build that actually gets HUGE benefits from chrono its recoup. Every other build that chrono can do, stormweaver does it better. Why do you ask? **well PoE its a game where you kill stuff, you either move fast, or kill things fast, also at some point PoE mechanics will either oneshot you, or not kill any build at all(assuming you got hit once) so there goes the recoup value. The time snap its used for mana regen, Buff time it is OK? but i dont remember seeing too many buffs on chrono builds anyway! GGG i hope you read this, cause the intention here its not to say WHAT you guys should do, but to give some paths or routes to think trought. **I do belive Devs are too much focused on the time itself, like clock time, not sure how to explain it better. and not exploring the other routes, like for example, speeding up the DoT processs, movement speed(THIS would be HUGE) Duration of skills, positive AND negative. one friend of mine always say about sand theme, also we dont have enought cooldowns to explore the cooldow resets, i think giving more stuff cooldow, would force people to use more than one skill(initial intention on poe2) and would give some holofots to that chrono side of the tree. I would love to see this topic go trought with people respecting(even if not agreeing) with each other opinions. **what do you guys think about chrono right now? what part of it does attract you? What you would love to see on the tree? Last bumped on Nov 10, 2025, 2:46:14 PM

Nah, Chrono is top ranking right now they should nerf freeze instead.
That's a joke, but not so much as chrono. There are many ways to give more power and utility to chrono, the stop time feature is good, but it's not game breaking. I'm not really sure whar ggg envisioned, i haven't tried building chrono because everything just looks way too much meh. The concept is very cool, the delivery is lacking, by a mile, hope they do rework it |

I've leveled a chrono to 90+ a few times. I think in general the ascendancy is decent. But it just doens't gel with the current meta. It is a defensive ascendancy and defense is basically second to damage and utility in this game. In the end its cooldowns are just not required the majority of the time.
It could use a few damage nodes or some kind of utility to maybe increase movement/skill speed/attack speed. Last edited by Icesinnox#6517 on Nov 7, 2025, 9:54:36 PM

Chrono lives in the shadow of Temporalis.

Chrono was actually pretty busted in 0.1.
0% Action Speed on everything around you was hilarious. It was inverse meta. Didn't need to move fast because nothing else moved. Didn't need to kill fast because nothing else attacked. They should probably move away from cooldown manipulation and CDR. It's a very dangerous stat. If they localize it to Chrono, that would probably be fine but it's on the passive tree / support skills too. You don't have to look very hard at Diablo 3 to see how builds end up. I put extra effort in my Tactician but could have just run Explosive Grenade all the way to 90. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

Chrono has 3 good nodes. The rest are sort of barely ever used.
The AOE+cast speed node is decent. Average of 30% increased AOE and cast speed. The recoup node makes her the best recoup stacker defensively. The 20% slow node is decent but not too impactful on any build. Technically the one that teleports you back in time with ES/Life/Mana is a free full heal with less than 5 seconds cooldown. However in practice I never use it even though I have it specced. The 0.5 second cast time kills since if you really need to use it, you'll be dead in 0.5 seconds anyway. Plus you never really know if you were at full ES/Life/Mana 5 seconds ago, so it might actually put you in a worse position. Plus Chrono is the class that actually needs the ES heal the least since she has recoup. Any cooldown related stuff just feels awkward. POE is a game where you have strict rotations for damage. Either spamming a skill or a bunch of skills in order. Having cooldowns randomly trigger (33% chance to not go on cooldown) means you can't rely on the passive for your build. The freeze time one is ok for bosses but you're speccing it just for that. As for the node that stores hit damage (the curse) and deals it later when you click the button, not even sure if anyone has found a use for it. Last edited by SaiyanZ#3112 on Nov 9, 2025, 1:20:31 AM

Chrono base mechanic is cooldown reduction.
There is nothing in the game that realistically benefit from it. |

At first, you just need to halve all cooldowns of all ascendancy skills. I played as a chrono in the last league, and I reached level 98. That's hell, guys!

So we all agree that the Cooldow line its useles... the 3 that EVERYONE picks are the only route it seems like?
Those picks are all arounders, it does not really matter the build they are being used. i wonder if Chrono melee would be interesting? with stunbuildups? the curse skill might work with hexblast? i wish i knew how to make hexblast builds to try out, only 12 divs i dont think its gonna move t16 mobs hp |
