Ban "landmine" trade scammers extension
|
they got me once, paid 2 div for a random corrupted Dunes map instead of 2c.
This scam only works once in a lifetime on a given victim. Now I check price before grabbing the item lol. Adds a whole 1 second to the buying duration. |

|
there would be an even easier solution to this, just add a tiny currency icon on the corner of the item icon like a Divine Orb so you can immediatly see, this item is priced in divines, same for chaos ofc.
And the rest? just pay attention what you buying. however, it is annoying when you intend to bulk buy a high amount of maps i.E to check every single one if its a landmine or not. |

" That's one good thing. Not that it is nice, feels bad when scammed. But another "Did i get a good deal?" video sure is fun ;P |
|
" This I agree with 100%, makes a lot of stuff easier to see (including in my own tab where I can't remember what prices I put on what). Great QOL imo and shouldn't be hard to implement. +1 Ofc scammers will still find a way around it, can just price map for 100c for example or whatever. So yeah, got bad news for you, if you can't take a second to check, there's nothing in this world that will save you from getting scammed. Last edited by Felix44#4475 on Nov 5, 2025, 8:33:26 PM

another idea i had is, it should be possible to categorize items internally like a map being a map etc.
So when item group = map and it is priced in divines or multiple divines which there is no map that costs 35 divine for example (fubgun KEKW), a prompt window pops up saying like: "This item is priced at an unusual high rate. Are you sure you want to Buy X item for X Divine?" Or just like for any item that is worth above idk, 100 chaos |

" Lots to unpack. "How humans work": but....what you describe also isn't how humans work. When we pay attention to something, REALLY pay attention to it, we actually ARE giving 100% (or like 99.999%). That's the entire point of our body having conscious and unconscious functions. There are TONS of studies on this: look up and read some scientific papers on "focus". Oh and btw: not getting scammed in a trade is focusing on ONE thing.....not EVERYTHING, as you describe. The only thing you need to focus on when trading is....the item you are trading for. You aren't dodging shaper beams while trading. You aren't plotting your passive tree while trading. You aren't (presumably) driving a car while trading. And if you ARE distracted by something outside the game at the precise moment you are instigating or buying an item...then you need only slow down or stop one thing and focus on the other. Also.....your post heavily implies that if we give ANY LESS THAN 100% attention, then we are all but guaranteed to get scammed, get into accidents, etc. That is a gross overstatement. Ex: It is literally impossible for anyone to give "100%" attention to driving a car, because of how many different things you need to focus on in order to do it successfully (signs, foot weight, other cars, your own car length, keeping your hands steady, thinking about your destination, passengers, etc). **Note: trade in PoE is NOT anywhere near this complicated of a "focus" task** And yet, the VAST VAST VAST majority of drivers have NEVER had a serious car accident. The going average "rate" of ANY kind of accident a person driving might get into is once every 18 years of their life. How much time throughout those 18 years do you suppose they drove? How much of that driving was anywhere NEAR 100% focused? Even 75-80% focus? And that particular car example is probably a much more precarious scenario than any kind of trade scam possible in PoE....simply because car accidents can involve far more than just a single party making a wrong move or "losing focus". I mean....the statement you gave "you can't always give 100% focus to everything", is actually the best example AGAINST your own point. Because extrapolated from it, you are implying everyone, on average, is getting scammed because EVERYONE can't focus as human beings. This idea that it somehow requires a "special" amount of focus to not fall for a trade scam is, itself, a scam. It requires the barest minimum of self awareness and focus. To the point where there really doesn't NEED to be a warning screen for probably a solid 99.9% of the playerbase, and they will likely never be scammed. theres simply 2 ways that can help.
1. tiny currency icon at the corner of each item which can help avoid chaos to divine bomb. it cannot help 1chaos to 10 chaos bomb. 2. Make an optional confirmation screen togglable from options menu. if these 2 features are added, its really the players fault for getting bombed. as for how humans work. we humans are lazy and want to trust people. some humans know this and want to exploit them. for sure people need to have some level of responsibility for their actions. but on another hand, its good to have empathy. hand rails exist to help people. half steps exist to help people get on platforms. if you dont need to use it. good on you. but the people who do use it will appreciate it. GGG please! [Removed by Support]

This can be resolved by simply adding a confirmation box for high value trades. Defaulting to prompting above 100 chaos or 1 divine orb. With an option to change these values as we see fit.
One type of landmine is divine instead of c, the other is for example 335c instead of 35c. This resolves both. |
