Abyssal rares.

Mobs that aimbot warp on top of you and drop splooge on repeat are annoying. Especially if that splooge is for some reason immensely damaging. The strongest of the damages. Its even more annoying if there is limited space to stand. Now there is no place to stand. Its just annoying looking for a world that I can stand in. I also have to run to get there while warpy warpy is splooging again- before I even get to where I wanted to get that wasn't covered in ick. Plus the ick is black, hard to notice in the dark world of no place to stand. Thats also only one of the forms of damage splooger ick is icking. Perhaps its chaos ick, that isn't purple; and that is why its damage is off yonder charts. Perhaps I need more chaos resist, and a smaller footprint- so that I can find a place large enough for my feet. Abyssal mobs are annoying. The more you fight then, the more annoying you notice they are- especially the ones that live in the darkness. Overall, the mobs aren't great. Its all, run fast at you stab stab or warpy poo poo. The laser girls are the coolest, cause its not spammy. I counted 10,000 spammy green balls. I wonder what they ate. Last bumped on Nov 1, 2025, 3:12:38 PM

My pathfinder is immune to freeze, and I can facetank the big green blast rays. I am not sure why, but I suspect it is because they are do mild cold damage with a huge freeze buildup.
The ground effect I think you are describing is a physical DOT. It isn't chaos. SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

Honestly I love abyss. The mob density is comical with an explodey build. That being said, the rares can get nutty. 9/10 I can melt them, but every once in a while I get spammed with 2 or 3 of the big mofos with auras that will nuke me in like .5 seconds before I can even realize my health pool going down. Kinda wild.
Whatever that DOT aura is could stand to be softened up a tiny bit.. Wouldn't be so bad if you could actually see what's happening, but between my visual effects and everything else that's going on I just get zeroed faster than my brain can compute lol |

there are 3 problems with abyss rares: (edit. 6.)
1: too many rares pop out at once. its dumb that 3-5 rares pop out at once, with 20 - 30 other mobs... especially right ontop of one another, and especially, when there are 2-4 other insanely close pits. and especially when.... 2: they literally can warp and one shot you. there have been so many times that i or my party clears a pit to make everything come out of the pit, and if you are even remotely near it, you just get 100 to 0 from 1-3 mobs that warp right ontop of you at the point of spawning, and just fucking wreck you. and then added on top of that.... 3: the AOE sizes are too large. the degen aoe is too fucking large. the black cloud that makes it so they cannot be damaged inside of it, is too fucking large. when you have to backtrack 2 screens to make the mob get out of the black cloud in order to do dmg to it... it makes you wonder who thought of this idea. and why. and it gets worse when you take all that effort, and the second you press a button to do dmg to it, it spawns the black cloud AGAIN. it should have been a one time thing with the cloud, as in... it could only spawn one fuckin cloud. not spawn black clouds every 15 seconds indefinately. if you really wanna get technical. i can add a number 4. with TOO MUCH BULLSHIT SPAWNING ON THE GROUND OR IN THE AIR TO DODGE. again having to backtrack 1-2 screens to kite mobs out of 37 green circles on the ground that are ONTOP OF FUCKING GREEN EVERYWHERE.... with GREEN FUCKING CIRCLES EXPLOSING ... and GREEN FUCKING CRYSTALS TAKING UP YOUR WHOLESCREEN EXPLODING.... it makes the already dogshit visual clarity this game has.. and times it by fucking 7. the only thing they got right with abyss, was making whole maps abyssal. and even then... 1/4 to 1/3 of the map is empty. and as a if you wanna be technically sound, number 5....the pits can be, even in non abyssal maps, TOO CLOSE TO OTHER PITS.... and in general... there were times i and my party would die because the pits literally blocked entrances, or whole paths until we killed it all. or even better.. number 6 is when they have pits in the boss room... that was always fucking dumb. making the boss room smaller, and immediately following a boss fight with again.. 3-5 rares spawning ontop of you to warp to you and 100-0 you while staring at boss loot. whoever thought this was a good idea also needs a bowl of cereal with hot sauce instead of milk. to put it lightly. so ya.. now that i think about it. abyss was dogshit. lol. and it only got worse once they nerfed the shit out of loot in .3.1B. cuz at least before that awful patch, the loot made it worth the trouble most of the time. (honorable mention for all the times i would get 1-3 minute gear loading screens going into depths... which completely took away any momentum of the map, while also taking away all your HH/shrine buffs) Last edited by Innuendos#5095 on Oct 14, 2025, 12:42:35 AM

" it's definitely a huge freeze buildup, but they also seem to do a ton of damage from time to time. not sure why you're able to just face tank if you're only immune to freeze, you should still be taking the damage. i keep a thawing charm on but i still have to get out of the way because it can 100-0 me in the duration of the attack if i try to tank it. i have about 6500 energy shield + hp. |

" Or... you step INSIDE the cloud and you're suddenly able to damage it. |

Yeah, you have to step inside the cloud. Completely unintuitive. I'm betting the girls with the massive ray guns do bonus damage to frozen. I can usually tank them, but they hurt. Its also easy to get 2-3 of them unload on you all at once from quite the distance. The striders were my main painpoint, but these seem to be a little more balanced now. I didn't notice anything in notes, but they definitely aren't as bad and seem to die MUCH faster now. The only abyssal that is bad atm is the tree. Specifically the lightning style damage they do... I don't understand it. Its targeted, but it seems to be aoe- and its not like any other lightning damage I've seen... and it POUNDS. Its also not slow. They hit so hard I have to find shelter and let my shield charge, then go back, usually multiple times. I think it may crit, cause sometimes that lightning just straight pops me, and I'm quite tanky. Its almost playable, not as bad as the striders were, not nearly. |
