Why is the game 112gb
Just looking at my installation on steam and really wondering why its 112gb, like I only got so much space, is stuff being optimized or is optimization coming at a later point?
Ok I answered my first question by playing the game its really not optimized that well Everything will be loaded in game, I see my character, then I open the atlas map and ohh grinding gears... No map just grinding gears, after maybe 10-15 secs the map loads but its all grey fog even though it's already explored, So I wait another 10-15 secs for grey fog to clear, now I'm starting to see some nodes, but crap I forgot to grab a map... So I press escape, and NOW IM STARING AT GRINDING GEARS AGAIN, I JUST HAD MY CHARACTER AND HIDEOUT LOADED... 20-30 secs goes by Ok now I see my character... Little things like that just drive me bonkers, other times no loading issues, same with loading into maps/hideout, like I hear menu music staring at loading screen, then I hear my hideout sound/pet sounds but still staring at a loading screen... my character loads in while im still staring at loading screen, other players will see me load in think im good to go then realize nope, other times loading doesn't take much time at all. I get its early access, but is this going to be addressed at all at any point, is it simply because its early access Last bumped on Sep 30, 2025, 7:35:23 PM

Poe2's game engine is new, but the systems it uses are old. The packaging primarily involves very old architectural structures. Like computers from 1990 and today, while they logically aim to do the same thing, their footprints are vastly different. The game's content and components aren't compiled into a single package (due to the time-consuming nature of optimization). To avoid optimization and incompatibility issues, they are compiled separately and integrated into the system as separate packages, aiming to simplify the intervention process. This leads to system bloat and a large number of unnecessary files.

Probably the current marketing trend. They intentionally bloat the game with unnecessary data to make the game feel more "modern". If you think about it, why are so many games right around that 100-120gb mark right now, no matter what kind of games they are?
There's certainly nothing that should take as much in this game, where you can't even zoom close enough to see textures very close. |

i think poe is around 40GB...i dont know why this game is nearly 3 times that.
