Omen of Corruption doesn't work (at least when you vaal gems)

I just got corruption without any change, despite omen being consumed.

" People say it's "extra socket" outcome. But in case of a max socketed gem it means changeless corruption, while omen supposed to prevent exactly that (according to description).
