Shader Compilation Issues and Long Load Times in Path of Exile 2
Subject: Shader Compilation Issues and Long Load Times in Path of Exile 2
Description: Hello Path of Exile 2 Support Team, I’m encountering persistent issues with shader compilation and extended load times. Here are the details: System Specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-9600K at 3.70 GHz (6 cores) RAM: 32 GB DDR4 GPU: NVIDIA GTX 2070 Storage: 1TB SSD with read/write speed of 7100 MB/s Issues: Load times are about 5 minutes before entering the game. Shaders continually compile and never finish the process. Shader cache data is not being stored in AppData directory. Troubleshooting Steps Taken: Cleared shader cache using Disk Cleanup. Reinstalled NVIDIA graphics driver and NVIDIA Control Panel. Adjusted graphics settings, but the problem remains. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or guidance to resolve these issues. i've tryed what i feel like is everything possible to make this game work decently and it just will not work, my system is more than enough to run this game as I have friends right now with half my system playing it with absolutely not a issue one. i'm writing this message as one last ditch effort to mabye get some feedback into how to fix the load times before I call it done and quit trying to play this game. I cannot figure out why it will not finish loading the shaders, i can leave my game on for hours in my hideout and wheni come back the shader bar will still be full like its still loading. if anyone knows whats going on or how to fix it id be greatful, otherwise.... welp i guess it coulda been a good game. Increase shader cache limit in nvidia drivers to 100gb or unlimited. It help slightly. If You have it on default, it can fill that limit just in few hours and then You are constantly recompiling.
Advanced things you can check is resizable bar (SAM for AMD) to further improve loading and throughput between CPU and GPU. And maybe check if There is pakcheck.exe (I hope I remember name correctly) in game folder and if yes, run it as administrator. It Will take a Long time and fix + optimize your game files. This existed for poe1, so worth checking if it exists for poe2. If shader cache doesn't help (it can take hours in game to precache most used shaders), then you can try deleting cache and recompiling again and if that doesn't help then reinstall game.
