Dodging while using gap closing skills (exploit?)

If I dodge in the opposite direction while using palm skills, it uses my position before the gap close.

So say an enemy is at max range at twelve o'clock. I hit the skill, the gap close starts, then I immediately dodge in the six o'clock direction, I will end up behind where I started before the palm.

Pretty sweet if intended, but I doubt it. Dodge should use the new position (at the enemy) instead of the starting position I think.
