3 ascendancy trial does not reward you points

completed the third trial and even touched the idol to gain the points but the game wouldnt allow me to choose anything

Do you have run 3 floors? Look at the table in Ascendancy class.
I think the tooltip there on the first floors is just wrong (you can only change the ascendancy class there). | |

The UI is confusing - the idol only grants you points, it doesn't actually let you allocate anything. If you go into the regular passive tree menu you should see the new points and be able to use them.
