Recommended stat/skills for a Summoner?
" yup nearly killed myself once with lighting thorns using firestorm edit something to consider though is trying to get dominating blow its a very underused and underated skill in my opinion and can really turn the tide in a losing battle imagine dominating black mages in barracks like 2 or 3 of em and have them cast lightning thorns on you and your summons.. the lols you have from this is priceless. just watch out with this one since it will require melee range/weapon Last edited by agbudar#4976 on May 17, 2013, 2:41:09 PM

Hmm, sounds interesting. Is there a guide for the Summoner/Arc build?
Preferably one that tells you specifically where to allocate Stat points (Str/Dex/Int). |

Recommended stat/skills for a Summoner:
Start as a Witch - simply because it's closest to the best nodes and get the Summoning Gems the quickest. Fireball should be ok as your personal attack, but pretty much any attack would be cool. Fireball comes as an obvious because if you later use Minion Instability then their damage is also Fire-based, so it just kinda seems logical - but it doesn't matter too much. Obviously you'll need the three Summoning Gems. Maybe a cool Curse Gem. The Support Gems will be self-explanatory - Increased Minion Damage/Life/Speed and/or Extra Damage or etc etc for the final one or two slots. For the Passive tree you just need to munch away at all the Minion Passives. Maybe go CI if you want, though it's not crucial. Take a couple of DPS nodes in your specialised self-weapon choice, just for those emergencies. It's quite a slow tactic, but really you should be utilising your Skeletons the most, preferably in conjunction with a Spell Totem from Cruel onwards. |

" You can go pure INT for most of it, the only reason you'll need STR/DEX is for Skill Support Gems. If you utilise your Amulet and Belt to get +XYZ to all Attributes, then you'll likely only need one or maybe 2 Passive points in one of the big +30 nodes of each. It's certainly not worth worrying about before Cruel, and then you can just keep an eye on the Gems as you level-up. |

I found that the "Punishment" curse was very useful when playing a summoner.
Since your minions have to be close to kill they WILL take melee damage frequently in which case the mobs will be doing most of the damage to themselves, combined with Minion Instability this works very well. |

Should I play Hardcore mode if I have subpar internet? How disastrous is lag in this game, specifically for Hardcore mode?

NEVER play hardcore with bad/unstable connection. Just dont. Game still have some issues with both game client and client-server connection - you glitch, you dead.
And on the topic - i grew to love ice/summoner witch. Pulse/Nova have very decent AoE coverage, you can get Arcing Blows with easy on your way to Unstable Minions (free fire damage YAY) and Hex masteries. All you need after that, is just to add some lightning damage to your spells. Shock, Chill, Freeze - even then your actual damage will be pretty low around Act 2-3 Merciless - these Statuses will help a lot. And ofcause two main thing - get Fire Sentinels spectralled, and get Summon Skeletons "totemed" ASAP. |

My summoner is level 71 now. Started as a witch.
That's what I'm using for my links for my summons right now.. ya the gloves are in dire need of an upgrade. I don't do any direct damage myself. I have elemental equilibrium and cast Level 1 ice nova to debuff fire and lightning by 50% on top the Flammability debuff and I use Vulnerability for my 2nd curse. That makes the physical damage hit harder and the burn damage as well. I wear Carcass Jack to buff the minion instability damage and boost the curse radius and once I get more than 4 links on it I will move one of my minion gem sets into it. I keep these auras up: Purity Clarity Determination Grace Discipline Anger Wrath And I can keep Level 11 Arctic Armor up without having any mana regen problems. 8 zombies 12 skeletons and 3 spectres and everything just melts.
