Mirage Archer... can be fixed so easily.

6 second downtime, sure. I get it.

The 6 second downtime is enough.

You're telling me CoS can spam lightning orbs or w.e... But Mirage Archer has to be tied to a choreographed 6 second downtime dance?

If you ask me, it should be up at all times, maybe cost 100 base spirit, and/or have a cost multiplier related to whats socketed into it.

At the very least the 6 second downtime shouldn't be reset on dodging. The game is very dodge encouraging. Can't just time them like that.

It should at least be a part of kit you can COUNT on. Every 6 seconds? Sure, doable. Can work around that. Not being able to predict the future on how I will be dodging... that's just wack. Not to mention having to now watch your buffs in the corner like a hawk to see if its ready again...

It just feels terrible to dive into active gameplay and punish part of your own kit by doing so.

I've also just realized while forcing myself to use it:

It REALLY sucks since SPRINT is tied to DODGE.

So I now trigger MA when going to sprint somewhere, and generally this means sprinting to another part of the map with potential mob packs, but now entering combat I have no MA available. :D

Completely nerfed my motivation today. Yeah I shoulda read the entire gem... but who would have expected such a punishing downside?

Respecced my tree and such in anticipation of adding MA to my build. What a waste.

Its up all the damn time in PoE1...
May not be optimal and correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just put mirage archer on weapon set 2?

switch to weapon set 2 > roll > switch back to weapon set 1 or use weapons set 1 skill > can now roll as much as you want on weapon set 1 + weapon set 1 now has a free extra 60 spirit or whatever mirage archer takes up

whoa this sounds great in theory. I will have to put this to the test when I next get on. Thanks for the advice!
You're welcome. Just remember to turn off mirage archer for the other weapon set you want to sprint and not trigger the archer on. Just in case you're not familiar with how to do it, here is a pic.

I don't have the gem to test it myself or I would, but it should work. You could just use the weapon swap keybind to do it or something else like...

Have your primary attack skill checked for only weapon set 1. Have a mark/curse/fast animation skill + mirage archer checked for only on weapon set 2. Then your roll setup would look like:

Cast your mark/curse which automatically switches to weapon set 2
roll to trigger mirage archer
use your main attack skill to automatically switch back to weapon set 1 so you can (hopefully) roll as much as you want without triggering the reset timer on mirage archer.


edit: remember you can right click on the "I" in your inventory above your weapon to lock it to both weapon sets since this patch too. You shouldn't need a second weapon now if you just want to use your main weapon for both weapons sets.
