Chaos Inoculation on a Mind Over Matter build vs Aliments and Stuns
|
Taking Chaos Inoculation on a Mind Over Matter build(no Energy Shield) turns your stun and ailment threshold to 1, making every tick from everything Stun you and inflict every Ailment under the sun at max effect, rendering the game unplayable. Which is a shame, since i wanted to try doing something with it since the day it was revealed that Mind Over Matter is a 100% damage redirection effect.
While regular CI builds that use Energy Shield have ways to deal with the issue through passive tree nodes that scale some of the threshold off their Energy Shield, Mana has no tree node or gear piece that can do anything of that sort. I know there are +stun threshold modifiers on gear and some on the tree, but its not nearly enough to be reasonably usable when your starting point is 1 While i dont think its reasonable to expect Chaos Inoculation to get to a state it was in poe1 due to the aforementioned mechanics Energy Shield gets on the passive tree to deal with stun/ailments, having a unique that would solve that problem wouldn't be great either due to the restricting nature of "itemised solutions" as i like to call them(Crown of the Pale King for Thorns builds is a great example). So my idea of solving this priblem would be a Keystone named something along the lines of "Mind Ward" and located next to Eldritch Battery - It would make you gain Stun/Ailment Threshold equal to your Maximum Mana(or % of it, whatever the balance dictates) at the downside of setting your maximum Energy Shield to 0, making it unable to be used in tandem with "gain stun/ailment threshold equal to % of max ES" so that it can work as an alternative to this modifier. As it stands currently "mana man" isnt a setup that is capable of properly functioning, much less being useful or not to even mention viable. IMO this is not that much of a problem for CI+MOM , the combination itself comes with a lot of benefits and this trade off is kind of acceptable when you take advantage of those benefits (you no longer need to care about Life and Chaos Resistance attributes in items) so you can start investing on nodes that give thresholds from ES.
What would be more worrying would be something like Eldritch Battery, where you really do lose the threshold chances from ES. And worse still, there are no passive nodes to get thresholds from Mana. |
