Sprint needs a customizable key option
|
While the concept of Sprint is a good one, there is an inadvertent death trap built into it the way it is currently designed. An accidental too long of a press on the Spacebar in mid-combat is basically a suicide as the character begins to Sprint (an unwanted effect) and then get his immediately...and that leads to a heavy stun.
A customizable key option for Sprint would solve this problem. In short, let Dodge be Dodge, and let Sprint be bound to whatever other key the player desires. Last bumped on Sep 2, 2025, 3:23:52 AM

This has happened to me a couple of times. I'm not sure how long you have to hold the space bar for it to trigger the sprint, but it seems to me that it triggers before the dodge roll animation is finished. If that's the case it is very unintuitive and should be adjusted.
Personally I like the idea that dodge and sprint are on the same button. Finding buttons for all your skills can be quite difficult as it is, especially when using WASD. Adding more buttons for basic stuff like sprinting would make it even harder. On the other hand, the new mirage archer skill would benefit from dodge and sprint being separate buttons. The way it is right now you trigger it (or refresh the cooldown) every time you start sprinting, even when out of combat. That can limit the uptime quite a bit, especially in maps with lots of stuff blocking your path when sprinting. |

this is a dark souls keybinding. i havent paid close enough attention to when the roll happens exactly in poe2 but in dark souls the roll happens when you release the button and so they can tell the difference between a roll intent and a sprint intent because you dont release the button to sprint.
Anyway that doesn't actually solve your problem, the only solution is to get a feel for how long to press the button for a roll vs a sprint. Last edited by Cult_of_Resine#3258 on Sep 2, 2025, 2:18:46 AM

It would be nice. I didn't really have much of a problem with it until I started using Blink. It may not actually affect the timing for sprinting. But, it really feels like I accidentally sprint more often when using Blink.
