Cracked, NOT hacked.

I have just been hacked/cracked too. Gotta be yesterday. Lost all my good stuff.
I can't say for sure how this happened. But what I do know. You can track where my items did go to. You can also track IP address. There are plenty things you can do to find the responsible. I really hope you would do something to find them. Nobody will keep playing this game if you are not trying to do anything about it. I look forward to an update on this issue.
you don't need an update... /sigh

Plain and simple: They are working on it now, they worked on it before, and they'll continue to work on it in the future.

There is NO way to make anything 100% hack proof or safe. Best they can do is keep up the good fight (like every other company that works on/with the internet).

What I would really love to see is:

The players taking responsibility for their own lack of understanding when it comes to security and perhaps take the time to learn a little bit "more" and protect themselves better.

It's not GGG's job to hold your hand and make "your" machine/usage safe. Their job is to make their systems as safe as possible and if they can... "help" you with yours.

TL:DR:

GGG is constantly working on security issues, it would be nice to see the player base do the same.
Josephoenix. You just wrote a very long post full of sh*t. You gave nothing supportive, but just wanted to trash talk people. If you have no support to give, then STAY OUT of this thread!

This computer I'm playing on is brand new, I have not visited any corrupted websites or used it to download. So I can tell you for sure I have done everything to protect myself.

And you are SO wrong.
OF COURSE we need an update. An issue as seriously as this really need an update. Have they found out about something? Did they track some of the responsible? There is plenty of stuff to update.

But try to give some support.
Is there anywhere I can report that I have been hacked?

It is much easier for them to work on this issue if they know who got hacked. Then they can track those data instead of track all accounts data ;)

Regardless of how you feel about how safe/clean your machine is, you cannot guarantee that it is uncompromised.

With that said, if you want to report a hacking and get GGG to further investigate, you can send an email to the address listed in the Contact Support link at the top of the page. Chances are they'll ban the hacker who took your stuff (if their account still exists), and that will be the end of it. Most of these hackers don't keep accounts around for long, nor do they need to. The items are fenced many times through dummy/throwaway accounts that it will make it very hard to completely track down, and they can't track down every single item you had and ban every account that now contains one of those items.

It honestly doesn't do a whole lot of good to report a hacking because very rarely can they actually tell how/why you were hacked, and it won't prevent you from being hacked again. As I've said before in many threads.. your best protection is to change your email password then your PoE password from a safe/clean machine such as a tablet or cell phone browser since those have a lot lower risk of being compromised.. then I'd get a gmail address and enable their 2-factor authentication, then contact GGG to get your PoE email address changed over to the new secure gmail address. Then even if they have your passwords because your machine is compromised, they won't be able to get into your account most likely (although there's still a slim possibility, so it's not foolproof).

Good luck.
I know I can't guarantee my computer is 100% clean. That was not what I was talking about. Josephoenix was talking about us who got hacked needed to

I was talking about I have done everything I could to prevent hacking. Some hackers are just good enough to hack even the best computers/servers.

I have changed my password on both my email and account already. I even change my email to another one. But I would like to know how to make this 2-factor authentication you are talking about. I couldn't find anything about it.
Thanks a lot Drakier.

If you're using gmail then go into the account security page and look for something called 2-step verification.
