Why did GGG change the starting difficulty?

I guess, this is what happens if you try to make one game for totally different playerbases.
What is it with POE players? Try to play more or less any game in any other genre and it's as hard or harder then this game..

Yep, it's very specific playerbase. And there is no way to make a game which would be fun for both them and normal players. POE players need it to be way easier and not require any skill to play, than other players would enjoy.

I'm not complaining, I can get through it just fine but I've now heard from many of my friends that the game is way tougher than they expected out the gate.

I've been practicing league starts all week and NONE of them presented any issues. And again, I'm not complaining, I can handle it, but I'm not going to deny what I see with my own eyes. The game is demonstrably more difficult in 0.3. I was very surprised to see this, I had expected almost the opposite.

I don't know what GGG was thinking. This free weekend is going to confirm for a LOT of new players what they'd already heard, this is not a game for them.


Actually I found it the opposite. Game feels much easier in 0.3 than in 0.2. I had been doing a bunch of Act 1 testing in 0.2 and hence I was surprised when I went to 0.3, it's way easier considering the character I am using has had some nerfs too
For minion build act 1 is pure pain. I don't want play caster but my minions are 90% of time dead.
Just get level 30 + . Most powerful skills are unlocking at those levels (for new players). Yeah game even make sometimes sweat drops on veteran players too. POE is a bit different than other RPGS. But you ll get along.
Started a monk as always but no item drops dead in a sec

its not fun anymore

i am not the best player i know but this is to hard


GGG is making a game for die hards and streamers and thats it


i like to see diffrent difficult servers like easy normal hard or something like that

GGG or their Q&A team CANNOT have tested playing melee from lvl 1. It's so obvious that the skills and gameplay does not work that they would notice after a few levels.

Even the vaulting impact that is supposed to be used on dazed mobs cant do that because there is no skill yet to daze the mobs, that comes at lvl 14 with the wind gust skill. They cannot have tested monk from lvl 1 to anything more than lvl 2, before quitting and saying it's fine. They might then have tested monk at a much higher level with pre-set of gear and res.

The VISION for monk:
Extremely slowly, do a 1-hit melee attack or a pack of mobs that zerg you. Then dodge roll away from the pack so you dont die. Then repeat until you kill 1 mob with the killing palm do get charges so you may then use the slam on either 1 remaining white mob or if you are lucky you can slam the next pack if you do it within 4 seconds.

And if there is any type of environment in the way the slam will not hit. So any tight corners and your better of kiting the mobs even more first.

Now here comes the wonderful VISION again: The entire point of the slam as GGG have set it up is to use it as a powerful attack that can clear stuff, that is why it requires so much set up.

1. Get three combo points
2. Kill 2-3 mobs with a specific shit skill first.
3. Maintain said combo points as they only last 4 seconds.
4. Now slam something, if there are any mobs in the pack left or if there is an elite nearby as well.

Now lets look at bosses and mini-bosses... Oh the vision doesnt work on bosses because you cant generate power charges..

you have to walk up to a boss and hit him slowly as hell to get combo points without taking a huge hit or dying so that you can perform a worse slam.

You are clearly not meant to use the powerful slam on bosses - VISION


This cannot have been tested by them, it cannot. I refuse to believe they tested lvling / going through the campaign with palm strike skills.
It's not engaging its infuriating.

So either all monks will have to level with glacial cascade to push through or quit the game or make a ranged character that doesn't have to deal with this very dumb and untested vision early game.


Can we start a petition for the entire GGG crew to take time off and actually just play the melee classes from start to how ever far they get. Test all abilities.
Preferably have them stream it all.
I'm ok with halting development an entire month just so they can playtest what they have made. I've played melee every season in poe2 and I was hoping that from all the time that have elapsed from initial release till now, that they would have tested and understood these things.
