Changing premium tabs to merchant

Sorry but this is really disappointing. I bought 10 premium quad stash tabs when they teased the instant buyouts at the start of EA thinking they would be able to be used for this.

Sincerely, that is on you.

Functionally premium and quad premium tabs are the same, the exception being that the latter is... a quad. If they announced that premium tabs could be converted to merchant tabs, and only clarified that it excluded quad tabs in a random response in the forum, why would it be the players fault they bought quad tabs (during a sale for stashes mind you) rightfully assuming that they could be converted?

I wana stress my upgradable options question once more. It is rly important to know for people who still have some normal stash and are waiting to upgrade them or just buy premium stash at a discount which is on now for 2-3days. Can we gen an answer what will be possible ant how much trade stash will cost? Upgrade options? Clarify everything and stop confusing players, thanks!

I would like to know this as well, but the response was `Nope. Only straight Premium Stash Tab purchases.` and I'm not holding out hope...
Ouch no quad tabs. RIP
PoE 1 is the best. PoE 2 is something.

We should be able to convert 1 quad tab into 4 premium tabs, and 4 premium tabs into 1 quad tabs.

Like others, I also read that "Premium" tabs could be converted to merchant and purchased points to buy 5 more Premium Quad tabs during the sale yesterday so I could convert them at launch.

I think expecting players to assume Premium stash tabs excludes Premium quad stash tabs without a clear disclaimer in the announcement is a huge oversight at best.

Either allowing quad conversion to merchant or allowing players to convert 1 premium quad into 4 premium normal tabs would solve this imo.

It seems like there is a bug with my profile though, can't even interact with it.
How will the conversion of premium tabs to merchants impact those tabs in PoE1? In the ZiggyD interview Jonathan mentions "they won't show up in PoE1" does that mean they won't show as merchant tabs and remain as premium or does that mean they won't show up at all meaning you technically lose a tab in PoE1(temporarily until the new trade is added to POE1) if you convert to merchant for PoE2?

But you know that mathematically (money-wise) it would be impossible?

Assuming buying tabs without sale:

PT - Premium Tab
QT - Quad Tab
C - Coins

1PT = 40C, 4PT = 160C, 1QT = 150C you would lose 10C
Assuming buying 6pack:
6PT for 180C is 1PT = 30C, 4PT = 120C, 1QT 150C you would save 30C, GGG would lose 30C

So knowing this, GGG would need to make you pay 30C for conversion to not lose money (ppl would by 6pack and then convert 4 into 1), but what if someone bought 4 premium tabs normaly? Then those ppl would not only need to pay 30C they would also lose 10C, in total 40C (premium tab price).

And this is assuming non-sale prices.

You are missing the point. The reason it's cheaper to buy a quad tab out right over buying 4 tabs individually (non sale) is because you get it at a discount for bulk purchasing. The same logic of getting discount applies when bulk purchasing a 6 pack of premium tabs. They are "losing" money because they're offering you a cheaper deal if you buy *more* and potentially gaining money because they just incentivised you to upsize.

Not only this, but after .3 launches, stashes purchased post .3 cannot be converted (it's only premium stashes that have already been purchased prior to .3 that can be converted to merchant stashes). And the current sale has quad/premium tabs priced the same 30 for a regular, 120 for a quad. The only actual "loss" would be if you bought 2x 6 prem packs instead of 3x quad packs (under the assumption that you could free convert between quad/premium), but that's not so much a loss as it's GGG incentivising you into buying 12 prem tabs for a 30 point discount.

So no, it's not "mathematically impossible", GGG have deliberately set up the price of both quad and stash packs to be cheaper when buying bigger/larger amounts exactly because they know and want to incentivise you to go size up.
