An underappreciated aspect of the bottomless awfulness called "trade"

You find an item you want only to realize that the guy who has it just left. Well, better luck next time, hope you manage to catch him and there is always the chance of him stopping playing altogether. Thanks, trade

A bit like finding a good drop and getting DC'ed before you can save it.

All part of the game ;)
Veterans from the original D2:LOD know that the first thing you do after getting a good drop is to save+exit (or logout) immediately. Don't sit there gloating with the drop on the ground and your face in a streamer camera.
Honestly I feel that trading in PoE is quite frictionless (especially in the later leagues) - you find stuff you need on the trade portal, push "Whisper", accept party invite, warp to hideout, put currency in, mouse over the item and hit "Accept".

I remember trading in BattleBlock Theater - if you wanted good star heads, you had to spend hours and hours playing on Xbox Live, get players to go to the trading booth instead of a level, set a "Have" and a "Want", hope that the other player sets what you want and DOESN'T troll by leaving the booth a millisecond before a trade is completed.

No resources on that either; you had to learn the rarity hierarchy of star heads through hours of playing online. It took me hundreds of online sessions to find someone clueless enough to trade me an ultra-rare lava lamp for a common bomb.
Trade can be a lot of fun. Sometimes I get whispers from people wanting to lowball offer on an item I have for sale. Even if it hasn't been sold for a while I am not obligated to sell to anyone. In fact I have deleted items entirely just to annoy people being rude and acting entitled.
My most hated game.
My most favorite game.
Such is the duality of man.
Another Trade-Sux thread...seriously after this many years do you think GGG will change anything like implementing an AH? This was part of the "Vision"...and sometimes things are not so easy, games were meant to be fun as well as fustrating. And still people keep playing this game.

Well done Chris!
-Time to be funny. The world needs funny right now! Warning: "Might" get you muted.

25 Exalts...oh God my stupidity stuck! Now onto 25 Divines...
The seller has a single 96 level character, they probably don't play much. I've been checking but they are still offline.

This is a big issue if you are not playing meta. The market is flooded with strength/ES stacker items but everything more exotic is scarce this late into the league. The main reason I don't feel like playing. Thanks, trade

Maybe your issue is that your wishes are too specific, maybe try crafting or something like that.

I mean yeah, it sux sometimes when u want something very specific.

Best u can do is add that guy to ur friends list. U get notified when he logs in and u can immediately spam him :D Hopefully he didn't quit.

Had the same happen to me in Necro league, one very specific wand and only one of them was on the market for 250div. The guy didn't log in for almost a week and when he did I still gambled and bartered with him to get the wand for 210 div :D Heart was pounding tho.
