Request for Optional Target Lock System in Path of Exile 2

Hi GGG team,

I’d like to suggest a change to the current auto-aim system in Path of Exile 2. While auto-aim is helpful, it often feels imprecise during fast-paced combat, especially when trying to prioritize certain enemies or avoid locking onto the wrong targets.

Suggestion:
Add an optional Target Lock system that allows players to manually switch targets using the analog stick (L3 or R3), based on personal preference in settings.

Details:

- Optional toggle – Let players choose between Autoaim and Manual Lock in settings.

- Analog Stick Control – Allow target switching via L3 or R3, depending on user-selected config.

- Quick-Switch Feature – Flicking the stick moves the lock to the next nearest enemy.

- Soft-Lock vs Hard-Lock – Option to lightly follow targets or hard-lock to one until manually changed.

- UI Indicator – Small visual indicator on the locked target for clarity (like a subtle outline or icon).

Why this is good:

- Gives players more control in high-mobility combat.

- Helps with prioritizing threats (bosses, ranged enemies, etc.).

- Makes the game feel more responsive and skill-based for those who prefer precision.

- Keeps accessibility in mind by making it optional and configurable.

Thanks for your time and all your hard work on PoE2! Loving the direction so far — just hoping for more control in how we engage enemies.

Dunno what changed from PoE1 to PoE2 but in PoE1 if I put my cursor far enough away with always attack without moving on it would aim manually. In PoE2 it snaps to the closest target, which feels awful for any piercing projectiles build trying to get max DPS on a pack.

Please enable this feature only for controller. With mouse and WASD, aiming is a cinch, and the auto-targeting is just a hinderance.
