Wisps are ruining the game for me as an SSF player.

My only chance to see a Rite of Passage is to engage with the Wisp mechanic. So, I have sacrificed my passive points to fully spec for Wisps, and I'm sacrificing a tablet slot that i could be using on quant to use the Wisp tablet. So I'm giving up quite a large amount of loot.

On top of that, my map times are being extended by whole minutes at a time in some cases chasing wisps around through empty map. They pick a target all the way at the end of the map when there's an eligible one right next to them. They fail to possess a target before it dies to aoe/chain/dot etc. They take you on the least efficient route possible, forcing you to skip pathways to then have to double back and go clear them afterwards. The amount of time waste is honestly astronomical when you're doing long farming sessions.

I have never before seen an ARPG mechanic that asks you to NOT attack anything, sit there doing nothing waiting for the mechanic to do something, in order to get your loot. But that is what wisps are - if I attack anything on my screen, the aoe/chaining will kill the rare monster before the wisp can possess it. So I have to sit there, doing nothing, waiting for the possession to complete. That is... unimaginably counter to the whole fun of the game.

I realized just how much more fun the game is when you ignore wisps, when I took a detour to focus on XP for a while so I could hit 100. It was night and day, the fun I had. Finally being able to take the most logical route through maps without this mechanic forcing me through stupid and convoluted paths with tons of backtracking. It felt like I could breathe, like I was enjoying the game how it was meant to be played. And now that I'm back to Rite of Passage farming I just... want to stop playing every time I start.

And you also have to try not to die while that wisp is taking control of a mob—and when it finally does, a whole bunch of chaos can break loose on your screen: tornadoes, animals jumping, explosions—all at once. Wisps just feel like a waste of time and a massive risk for no real reward.
TS is on the right track, keep voicing it.

GGG needs to hear these complaints if we want loot drops fixed across the board. TS deserves to enjoy his SSF journey, just like how the 0.2.1 update used to make the game feel. But now it’s ruined. GGG can’t just come out and say, “Oops, that loot drop wasn’t supposed to be like that. We’ll adjust it so it’s not just raw Mirrors that are valuable, but also T0 uniques,” and expect everything to be fine.
Used to think PoE 2 was “not just PoE 1 with better graphics.”
But that illusion shattered after the 0.2.1 patch.
It ruined the feel, the loot, the flow, everything.
Make it good again, GGG.
