Items that only drop in Hardcore league but can be carried over to softcore
" This sounds like a lot of work for little benefit. Especially since you can customize the looks of your gear via microtransactions anyway. I don't think there should be any difference between HC and SC. HC is just exclusively for characters that never died (and were created in that league). Disregard witches, aquire currency. This is some sort of ploy to make us want to play HC? Oops, is that lag or a computer freezing up in the middle of combat? I guess you have to start all over hahahaha.

I REALLY like this idea, at first I passed over the forum thinking "Thats dumb and will never happen" but as I was scrolling through I thought about it and its actually an awesome idea!
The items I think SHOULD be better (but only very slightly) Maybe they have higher roll thresholds so it wouldnt even be THAT noticable, but it doesn give a sort of "To strive for" mentaly. I did no realize HC chars moved to SC upon death, if thats true, this should be changed as then why wouldnt ALL characters move to SC? If you are going to keep that, I would suggest something like your character gets moved to SC BUT all your gear is deleted. This would prevent SC characters from playing HC for the "what the heck" mentality. This would promote more multiple playthroughs since MANY peopel would try and roll hardcore. As of now, braging rights is the only thing, but it would build a better economy if the loot was better too... I usually dont even play HC and even with this addition, if there really was a punishmnet for HC death, I probably wouldnt play it. Those who do, should be rewarded! I also really like the idea of VERY super unique rares... This really gives players a sense of "awe" when seeing one of those and you begin to know people as "celebs" because of their awesome gear... |

" That's exactly what makes it so fun. :) But HC only items? No, keep our leagues the same. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."

" Sorry I am going to quote you but I always find it funny when someone gives an opinion and then doesnt give reasons WHY? HC only items in this thread = the item ONLY drops in HC but is able to be carried over into SC on an alt for instance. MANY players will not even reach end game HC and with all the other factors involved, I doubt this will even make a difference to the game at all. All this could do it created a bigger item diversity in the sense of "scale" You will have the "highest tier" and then the "HC Tier" It just makes that item a little more valuable, but in a game so random, Its the equiv of what 2 more physical damage? Its just another way to show off saying "look how BA I am, I got this in HC as a level 80..." |

" It's item diversity, that's nice, but if it's more than just a cosmetic change, there will be loads of people farming in HC who wouldn't normally, and pressuring people to find these exquisite items is wrong. I also don't think I would ever play in HC as the game is, lag spikes and hardware slowdowns really are a killer. So besides putting pressure on default players to play HC, you are suggesting that only people with expensive hardware and internet connections win? |

" I did give a reason why.. The leagues should be identical. That includes item drops. To have some leagues drop cooler items is just wrong. It would be better to have these items require hardcore dedication to acquire. As we know, the mirrors will most likely affect maps. So maybe there could be a chance for a unique looking item to drop in that instance. For both hardcore and normal. It would be awesome to have that item on a character in default league, but devastatingly priceless to have it on a hardcore character. :) Perhaps some item skin you could not buy in the store. But NOT drop-able for just one league. "That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."

Again, I also said if you were to implement "better drops" you would also have to implement a "punishment" for dying besides just switching over. Something along the lines of losing all your gear but not losing your character, OR a full character wipe upon death. This will prohibit MANY casuals from rolling hardcore. I also think your missing how it would actually play out, Ill give this example. the damage mod "Blasting" lvl: 70 Base Minimum Added Fire Damage 24 to 31 Base Maximum Added Fire Damage 48 to 56 Maybe the "Hardcore" Mod changs to Base Minimum Added Fire Damage 25 to 32 Base Maximum Added Fire Damage 49 to 57 In the end, I dont think getting +1 on the mod really makes ALL the difference to most players and many players wont see it as worth the risk/reward tradeoff since trying to obtain this damage mod for +1 more damage on the MAX roll isnt going to be worth losing ALL their gear and/or having their character get wiped. Most players wont even see the effects of this on their items since probably 90% of the time, the roll is going end end up in the same range as the "normal" version. I dont think many players can even get to end game on hardcore, and if they did and then died, do you really think they would reroll JUST to play hardcore? I doubt it, especially when there is such a focus on PVP and end game maps. Players are then encouraged to play hardcore, however, again, they have to determine if the risk of losing items or having their character deleted is worth it. It also rewaards the most hardcore players who try and min/max. I dont see ANY downside with this system AND I see myself as more of a hardcore player then a casual and I still probably wouldnt play HC for the risks. |
