Incarnation of Dread bugged

I feel like I had 2 issues here.
1. I swear I brought the roses to him but he didn't "eat" them or whatever he does to leave immune phase.
2. After watching a video on the fight and seeing someone do exactly that and it did work, I tried again, and it worked...

But now, after getting it to 50%, the phase started again but now there's no roses, no hazards, and it's immune to damage so I can't do anything except quit out.
