Mercs' insults

Mercs are negging and straight up insulting me.

Mercs are made by GGG, so pretty much it's GGG:
- calling me a pig in a disgusted voice;
- calling me an idiot after I killed merc;
- calling me a coward, if merc has nothing to offer but has some oneshots in a map with deadly mods;
- sighing annoyedly, when I give my merc an upgrade gear;
- sighing in disappointment, when I die to any of infinite surprises the game throws at me.

As if spitting Greust wasn't enough.

I understand that players probably should be some sort of masos to keep playing this game.
Game has it's harsh way with a player as it is.
Now player can be also verbally abused, on per-map basis, a dream come true.

Well, just for your info, I play this game because I like 300 mechanics layered on top of each other, so that I can combine them in some interesting manner.
It's a puzzle, with action involved.

It's not BDSM, ffs.
Or is it now?

Not that I expect any changes about it in this league. It's baked and shipped out.
But can next league be more... I don't know, "friendly" isn't the right word for Wraeclast. Well at least be more neutral?

That is, if you guys can make a new league.
After repeatedly crapping yourselves, figuratively, speaking of servers' quality. And now crapping on player's head, literally, with words.

Hope is still there, tho.

I, for one, find it incredibly refreshing to have NPCs that aren't praising me for wiping my butt like almost every other game being made now-a-days.

If you don't like their sass back, you can always get the ones who can't talk right. Or just, y'know, not use them?

In a game you kill millions of mobs, with bloody storyline, merc insults are not OK?

Yes, misusing, both figuratively indeed.

Anyways, not a big fan of being constantly trash-talked by random npcs.

Play a bethesda game. You get to be in charge of every faction you encounter if you do their boring generic questline and every npc is kissing your bud and tells you, you are the chosen one, or the chicken born or whatever...

It's your choice to play the game. It specifically has a warning about language.
Nobody is going to bend over backwards because for your particular sensitivities. You're not entitled to the world adapting to you.

In addition, just for the sake of accuracy, the way the game is designed, your character is not you. Mercs are insulting your character, not you.

Oh cmon that's just technicalities. If a merc or trialmaster insults my character then its also insulting me, the player by extension. Also I have no idea where this "language warning" is in the game lmao,didn't see it anywhere in the login screen.

I agree with OP its pretty toxic game design to have stuff like this, mercs throwing random insults at me or trialmaster making fun of me for only doing X amount of rounds only demotivates me from wanting to play the game more. Like seriously I just start to ignore Ultimatums on purpose when the trialmaster starts saying all those toxic lines. Like 90% of his voice lines when you die/don't do 10 rounds are some kind of insult and a few of them kinda try to encourage the player. Its pretty bad. I don't need some random NPCs saying all this nonsense to me, its just annoying and feels bad.

Its not healthy, and at least a toggle on/off button would be nice. I can't just turn off voices in the sound settings because then I won't be able to hear voice cues from bosses for their attacks along with all the other dialogue in the game.
