Heavy Strike of Trarthus + Trauma support causing double trauma damage

I am using Heavy Strike of Trarthus with trauma support and I started noticing that I was randomly taking unusually high physical damage when hitting an enemy, and it seemed to happen more often the higher my intelligence got. I believe that the "2% chance to deal double damage per 10 intelligence" modifier is causing the self damage from the trauma support to deal double damage as well
