"Revered Return" challenge is too expensive
The bottleneck for this challenge is the requirement of using either 5 Orbs of Unraveling or 5 Orbs of Rememberance. These are getting bulk-purchased by the rich nolifers so their price just keeps climbing up. As of today they cost 4d and 6d respectively which in total requires 20d and 30d for the challenge. I feel this is a bit too much for a challenge which is suppose to be simple introduction to the mechanic.
Suggestions to fixing this problem: 1) Reduce required challenge conditions from 4 to 3. 2) Reduce required number of orbs used from 5 to 1. 3) Increase the ammount of these orbs dropping by improving content availability or add more opportunities for them to drop elsewhere. Honestly, I think it's fine as-is.
Hitting 40/40 is not supposed to be automatic; it's intended to be a time-sink of reasonable duration that requires some level of effort. The 'Consume Portals' criterion is free; the 'Consume Memory Strands' criterion is so inexpensive as to be functionally free. Then you're left with two more criteria to complete; you wait to see which of the currencies you yourself happen to get most of, then (if needed) when you want to wrap up the league you buy the remainder of whichever currency items you need to hit 4/4 for that challenge. You're making a host of assumptions in your post that I just can't agree with - first among them, you appear to have decided you'll get 0 of the items & need to buy every single one of them. That would be rather spectacularly unlucky if you play for any real length of time. There's also the inflationary aspects of 3.26 being kind of insane. Even if you don't spot a Merc rocking a Headhunter or Mageblood that you can steal for free, you're going to repeatedly find Mercs with Divines that you can poach from them. If you do the Kingsmarch stuff, I've had Divines from both shipping and map running. Divines have never been more accessible than they are now. I'm working on something for the PoE community! 👀

Also - I imagine you'd be pretty upset if you invested currency into completing that 1/40 challenge only for a patch to come out two days later nerfing the challenge and retroactively rendering the Divines you had spent on it a total waste.
There's probably people out there who've done that already. Maybe don't rush to suggest that GGG do that to them if you wouldn't like it being done to you. I'm working on something for the PoE community! 👀

" No? I'd be glad that people don't have to grind to such a ridiculous extent unlike what I had to do. I don't think I, or anyone that comes after, should have to spend an amount approaching chase uniques to complete a challenge. There's a big difference between spending a ton of currency for gear to be strong enough to defeat an uber boss, and spending a ton just to access that content in the first place. (inb4 it gets mentioned: I'm not saying that the Originator bosses are uber) PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! Oh no, you have to grind for a grind challenge? Shocking concept. How unacceptable. Even if it cost 80d, it’s still just that, a grind. Not every challenge is meant to be handed out with a welcome basket. Deal with it.

Yup it felt bad to throw 5 div in the garbage. Oh well. I give GGG my blessing to reduce the 2 expensive ones to 1.
