I love PoE2, but...

I’d be willing to forgive Path of Exile, since it’s an older game and each new league brought fresh graphical effects that could tank your frame rate during mapping.

That said, I can’t extend the same courtesy to PoE 2, because the developers were fully aware of those exact issues and yet, they never addressed them.

I’m talking about those ultra-severe FPS drops when you’re mapping and MTX fps drops.
Preface:

On my high-end PC (64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD, 16-core CPU, RTX 4090), I still see my frame rate plummet from 60 fps to 10 fps in an instant.

On my Mac Studio (32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 14-core CPU, 38-core GPU Unified), it’s the same story. Keep in mind that my high end PC has 2x the graphical performance than this Mac. Even on a PS5, I can’t escape those nasty dips.

No matter the hardware or display resolution, mapping sessions in PoE 2 suffer sudden, jarring slowdowns.

For nostalgia(90s kid), I sometimes drop the game down to 360p or 720p and I crank FFR to “Ultra Performance.” But even then, I still see 20 fps dips when running maps. It’s just brutal.

There are certain MTX wep effects, like Paladin Effect, that drops your fps 40%, how is that a thing?

GGG is not a small indie company anymore people once thought, we should have better optimization.

The same thing happened to me until I switched from DirectX 12 to Vulkan, and the game improved dramatically. If you haven't tried it, I recommend you try it and see how it goes.
