Doryani Merc builds ruin the game

They are so infinitely more powerful than anything else.

How this got into the game is beyond me. Completely ruins the game.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wondering whether I should just give up and reroll to the meta hotness, or expect it to get abruptly nerfed into the ground with no prior communication.

It's so egregiously ahead of anything else out there that I do think a clarifying statement from GGG is warranted - assuming that they themselves know what they're going to do, of course...

next poe2 patch releases in less than 6 weeks. i doubt they have anyone left on non-critical (aka realm crashes) things for POE at least till 2 weeks after poe2 patch hits

If you're smart, you'll avoid this altogether.

There's no chance mercs are going core. Don't join the deluge of people that will be flooding these forums a few months down about their crutch being taken away or nerfed.

PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.
Regardless of whether they should nerf it or not there are multiple other setups with equal power level(for example: warcry effect, aura+fortify stacking, blade generation). Once they start nerfing it will end up being whack-a-mole again and I don't think they'll bother with that when PoE2 is around the corner.
You're half right, OP. Here's the corrected version:

Mercenaries ruin the game.

Two more of my friends quit today... there's just no point in playing when the game feels this dumbed down. I thought harvest was bad enough when they gave everybody an item editor? But at least you still had to actually play the game with your broken nonsense items.

I want to know how the idea "animated guardian, but better in every single way imaginable with zero opportunity cost" even made it out of the break room where it was pitched. Even if they nerf the Dorianis and the Kingmaker and Perquil's Toe and every other broken ass unique item interaction, it's still an animated guardian that gives you fifty percent item quantity, provides free auras and charge generation, and takes zero gem sockets.

There was never going to be any possible way to balance this. If you could only give them white or blue items, it still breaks the game.

you know the game Darkest Dungeon? mercs should be just like heroes from that game. one slip.. and they are gone. so you get a bit of power but be ready to re-gear, re-farm and burry them over and over again. heroes died from freak shit and unlucky strike or just went insane - its okay, there are 5 new waiting each week

but what i see now is a walking mech in a game about swordplay :)

You're absolutely right, and I actually mentioned mercenaries dying permanently in a different thread. Among the many problems with Mercs is that there there is zero risk or opportunity cost; you are never going to not run a mercenary.

I guess I should have specified that when I said "this" was going to be broken regardless of any specific item interaction, "this" meant "the league as designed."
Oh i havent thought about Perquil's Toe that makes lightning skills especially exquisite.

I guess Enmitys Embrace was supposed to counterbalance with fire element before the prepatch last minute nerf. I guess lightning damage it is this league then.
