Item pricing
How's everyone doing it?
I don't spend a ton of time selling because I hate having to stop what I'm doing to go back to the hideout for nickel and dime items. However I hang onto the outliers with some notable affixes. When I do decide to put something up, I always find myself scouring the trade page for same/similar items to try and gauge pricing, but I feel like there's a better way out there. I've avoided other 3rd party pricing programs as I've seen/heard a few people getting banned for them. Are there some general rules of thumb people go by when deciding on a price? I'm not interested in maximizing profits, I just try and do due diligence as to not short-change myself on items that may normally sell for several divs or otherwise. Just looking to expedite the process somewhat in figuring out what certain things are worth. Thanks Last bumped on Jun 21, 2025, 7:38:36 AM

I ask myself "how much currency would it take to make me willing to leave a map and invite someone to my hideout?"
Then i price everything in my premium tab at that. Its the most ethical system imo. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype." Last edited by Direfell#7544 on Jun 20, 2025, 4:09:02 PM

There's no shortcut to gain knowledge. And knowledge is all you need for your "problem". Third party app that check thing for you is the easiest way to do it. Otherwise you need to learn what build is good for each patch, then what affix are usually used on those builds. Then how easy it is to roll those affix depending on gambling mechanic available. Then how the current economy flow (as is it is easy to gather div/chaos. The easier it is the more you can price your items) and all the little details that make economy runs.
TL:Dr... Get the app or take a PHD in economy. |

Look at other similar items with close stats. There's your market baseline. If the item isn't moving at that price, drop it until it does. That's one method.
Another method is to set up pre-set stash tabs with currency amounts in increments scaling up/down. Cycle the items in and out of those tabs at your discretion until they sell to other players, or they vendor out. My fav is to just put in there what you feel it's worth. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell. Re-price, see what happens, or cut the loss and move on. Mainly you need to just set goals and realize every item in your stash that isn't selling is lost potential unless you plan to use it some day. If it isn't moving, cycle it out or set it for long-term hold. Certain items are for sure long-term holds to wait for the right buyer, but they are few and far between. It's all wasted potential sitting in your stash ;) For what it's worth: I've traded a lot of of gear on PoE2 official trade website for divs. I can float my trade site purchases and Alva currency purchases through using those 3 methods above. Right now I'm averaging far less trades than before the 0.2.1 patch. Abnormally low. It is what it is. Last edited by 1Cor12Three#1248 on Jun 20, 2025, 9:18:51 PM

Shortly after that last patch most prices started to tank. Outside of let's call them perfect rolls or high level crafted items.
All the average stuff fell to a level it wasn't worth trying to sell just my opinion. Along with the active player drop and everyone just spinning their wheels until the next league. If the loot changes are still active in 0.3 it will be interesting. This league I bought a lot of unique items the first week for 1 or 2 divs. Then by week 3/4 those items were selling anywhere from 30 to 100+ divs. That's how I made money this league. |
