Mercenary minion convert gloves not working with Infernal legion.

I got the new minions convert 100% of fire damage to chaos damage mod on a pair of gloves in mercenaries league and was hoping to use them to convert infernal legion to chaos damage. The infernal legion gem says that it causes minions to deal fire damage, and I figured that meant it would be converted. Just curious if this was intentional or a bug. I tested this by socketing Animated Guardian, Infernal Legion, and Void Manipulation together and the AG did no damage.

It's only possible to convert damage from hits. Infernal legion doesn't hit.
