Mac os Poe Kegwork unable to open
I have a mac m1, and was play poe just fine yesterday. This morning when I try to run the game, it opens as a black screen then terminates itself. I am unsure what the issue is. There is no production_config file that I can look through or something similar, maybe I missed it and I dont understand why it terminates from the logs.
There used to be a .tmp file that you would replace, but it did not show up this update. Any ideas how to fix this? Last bumped on Jun 14, 2025, 3:32:12 PM

The config file should be located somewhere like /Documents/My Games/Path of Exile

I am in the files, but there is no config file. The only config i can find it the kegworks Config, how i run it with the test run, and I made sure to run it on "Direct3D to Metal translation layer - (D3DMETAL)". I have also tried the other options, but they just open a black screen then terminate itself.

I did find the production_config.ini file by going to documents>My Games>Path of Exile, but there is no such thing as device_type or any vulkan in the file. At most, I found "renderer_type=DirectX12" in the file. I did also try to add it to the file, did not do anything.

I ended up getting an error that says "[VULKAN] Failed to allocate texture [Shadow Atlas]". This it has to do something with not enough GPU or limited resource allocation. I am really not sure how to fix this. I have plently of memory and what not.
My guess is that something to do with the mini patches or something that bricked it. They maybe added/fixed textures that is too much memory or something (idk) and I cant run it. I was unable to come up with any solution for kegworks. So I am now try to download the mac version from poe website downloads thing. I used to play on steam but ended up having too many problems with steam (crashing b/c of global chat and couldnt trade, failed to connect to servers, etc.) and there was never a good fix for them and they started appearing in 3.25 maybe (idk if fixed now). Hopefully this works now on mac client. |
