Rigwald's Crest + Mercenary not triggering

As the title says, the ring does not trigger when equipped by a Mercenary.

Unclear. The RAQ only mentioned influenced triggered weapons like CoC bow cannot be used as they don't use the gems inside the bow. The ring doesn't use sockets, but there's no clear answer that I know about that style of trigger.
