If I smoke weed and play this game, am I better for it.

Leisure time and drugs have gone hand-in-hand for probably thousands of years.

Currently the socially accepted drug is alcohol, and nicotine is pretty much on the way out for being socially accepted. Additionally, weed is on the way in.

So, no, it doesn't make you better for it... it makes you just like most people who do something to change their leisure time experiences.

Like everything else in life, it's only an issue if it's taking away from other, more important, aspects of your life.

Where I work, i see the worst effects of recreational drugs (incl alcohol) can do to someones head. Mind you, its at the edge of the bell curve, but you can see the long term damaging effect of recreational drug use; the joblessness, hopelessness, regret of a spent youth wasted.

Then there's the other aspect of my job which Witt aludes to that bothers me as well, which is medicalizing stresses of life events; ie loss of job, separation, eviction they come into the hospital! Fortunately in Brisbane, community support appears adequate (provided you know where to look) There are plenty of helpful strangers here.

Can't wait for DSM 5. That's going to be fun. Wait for the dust to settle from that, eh?



As for the zombies, Pog, I was in your game yesterday. The zombie hilarity! Unfortunately, its in the 'known issues list' and most likely will be fixed :(
But can it clear Chaos? I wanna see the all conquering zombie horde in action.

BTW You should submit that for the build of the week.

Some people can't play video games and lead a productive life, it's not different. I've smoked for years and I'm now in my early 20s and rent a nice house with a decent income. Cannabis is my drug of choice, thanks.

Assuming you work in the hospital you mentioned, the cross-section of people that represent your experiential evidence do represent the 'edge of the bell curve' as you suggested, simply because they are already having problems... additionally a percentage of people in the hospital are there for unrelated reasons and have also been doing drugs.

I've always found it funny that campaigns against drug use in general focus on extremely concentrated cross-sections, when in reality there are 1000 people that are doing great for every 1 person that isn't. (*fabricated statistic, it's prolly far greater actually)

Alcohol causes extreme damage to health and is extremely dangerous on the roads, however for every 1 person that has problems and is on the way to the hospital, there are 10,000 people they left behind having relatively safe fun :P

So yeah, I've heard of a lot of doctors that say that they've 'seen the damage it causes' but what they never say is that they never see 99.999% of the people that have no issues at all.

Indeed, Zeto and Fluff. The way I phrase my post is that I'm fully aware that it causes harm to the 'vulnerable edge', and that's what we see in Mental Health. Just head into the Valley, or whatever night hotspot in your city. Then when the week arrives, back to work, no probs tyvm.

Also another issue we see all the time is medicinal drug use / dependence. Benzos (valium, xanax) and opiates (ms contin etc) in particular. Anxiety and pain. 2 unpleasurable states. But I don't want to hijack Pog's thread :P

I'm hoarding all those zombie gems. This really has to be experienced.

Imagine a whole party of zombie necros.

We could have an entire clan dedicated to the Necrowitch build. A Coven if you will. LOL. I can see it now. Endgame will be a joke. 6 people. 50 zombies each. All LvL 90+. It will be something that I think GGG will want to feature, rather than remove.
