Corrupted items should always be maxed out, otherwise they shouldn't even drop
At least in the endgame, if a corrupted item drops and it doesn't have maximum affixes, maximum quality, and maximum pre-corruption sockets, it's completely useless and immediately trash.
Any mechanic in the game that would cause an item to drop corrupted should also cause it to drop with maximum quality, sockets, and number of affixes, and then should apply corruption. If it doesn't do this, it's a complete waste of time to even include the mechanic. If you need to make corrupted item drops that much rarer to account for this, that's fine. It's much better to rarely see corrupted items and get excited, than always be annoyed seeing an item drop corrupted. Last bumped on May 23, 2025, 3:09:17 AM

I agree.
Corrupted drops are currently just a way to waste player time and pad the gameplay with more trash loot. This game is full of designs like this. Psychological manipulation of filling player time with garbage, so that when something useful happens/drops, supposedly it feels better. But that doesn't work in games because there's always an easier third option: stop playing. It just makes the game unfun and cause people to leave before the "dopamine hit" even happens. Nobody likes to crawl in sewerage all the time and get a breath of fresh air every now and then; the baseline experience should be good to start with. GGG needs to move away from this kind of pseuso psychology-based design. |

Sometimes i wonder why is so difficult for Devs to understand the obvious things!!!
Corrupted items should be dropped with max modifiers otherwise who cares to use them? There are zero corrupted valuable items dropped until now from Trial or maps. |

Maximum affixes and sockets is probably a good idea. Maximum quality might be asking too much.

" The problem is, eventually you're going to be at a stage where you'd only ever consider using items at max quality, and you'd run into corrupted drops that otherwise would have been an upgrade if and only if it had max quality. Honestly I feel corrupted drops is just a bad idea in general due to the way itemization is designed in this game. |

I agree, i rly dont see what's the point of corrupted drops, currently its just garbage, it ruins items rather than improves them because corruption is only useful as a last RNG step to an already maxed item

Corrupted item drops.
Game: "Would you like a BRICK??" Player: "No, I make those all day." Game: "OK no problem I just wanted to know if you wanted a BRICK. I have a LOT of them. Like.. a LOT." Player: logs out |

In current design these items can be considered as low-mid game items only.
So, in that case I have a question why do we need low-mid game items when we are doing end game chaos maps at level 80? A normal map drops a rare item with a little chance to be decent, but corrupted drop from chaos is always garbage for the end game. It’s obviously a bad game design.
