Honestly, maybe they do those races exactly now, because they want to shutdown all the people who wanted official racing for years.

Now they can say "See, we did races and almost no one cared. No participation and no viewership". After that they don't have to do them ever again.
Not saying it's true, but it might aswell be, considering the timing and rewards couldn't be worse.

GGG - do you guys actually think this was a good idea? 90% of your playerbase has left because of your vision, so you set up a competition that 99.99% of the remaining don't have a hope of competing in?

Who are you to care about playerbase? Let it sink , GGG have it own strategy, this is also part of it, to keep the race template stay the same just add Huntress and Divination Car, so next race also easy , add new class then something that leave meaning to the winner, this is the best race template, easy to setup, you dont like it? Just dont participate

How about fix what's broken instead of trying to have competitions? How about make the campaign enjoyable instead of a slog fest you have to get through to even get decent gear? The campaign is SO bad it makes people not want to play. Fix the stuck in past stuff first. How about stop nerfing META builds only to make another meta build. Make it so other characters/classes are worth playing. We don't need more content right now, we don't need races we need what currently being used as playable content. 20k players is pathetic to say the least. I have run guilds for other games with that many people in them.

The VISION is stupid, Jonathan is ruining a once great company and turning into a pile of waste.

Man I miss the og races, doing those descent and endles ledge runs, getting points to trade in for cool alt art items and have everyone actually wanting to participate.
... instead we get the same bland and targeted races that are won by the same 2 or 3 people who hoard all the meaningless rewards.
