comparing poe 2 to soulslike games

Hi, as we can see the game is not appealing a lot of people and most say that the game is walking to a more soulslike style where you get punished a lot in the game.

I just wanted to clarify that this statement is soo incorrect.

I have played and finished every souls games and i can tell you what they do right and this game don't.

In souls game you get punished for bad dodges but the damage is waaay better balanced then POE 2. You hardly get one shots in souls games ( because obviously thats not fun ) and the difficulty from the game comes from bosses and minibosses not just random white mob with one shot damage.

The balance in this game is insanely incorrect and that is from classes and from mobs and if you want to follow a little bit the ideology from souls games you should understand the reasons a little bit and not just lets make everything awful hard.

Sorry if my english is bad but i really wanted to post some feedback about the game, the game have potential to be the best ARPG avaliable but i see that GGG are missing vision by a lot.

In resume i think the problem is overtuned numbers and i can put some down here.

* Some build are basically trash compared to the meta builds we have.

* Maps with temporal chains are insane ( 22% of slow are you serious ? )

* Some mobs do abnormal damage even when you have like 9k energy shield.

Im not writing this to complain i just want to post my feedback as a player so GGG hopefully can hear us and maybe change the things we are not liking

I love when game is hard it always give me more motivation to beat it but when its just dumb hard it just turn me off and i think a lot of people feel the same

Yeah it's been mentionned a lot, many white monster hits too hard and as soon as you juice them, they start to 1 shot players. Base damage is too high and the difference between HP and ES builds is too big.

"Most" say that? Really? The only people I've seen saying this are the ones like you who want to rant about how wrong it is -- I've never seen anyone else actually make this claim.

A small number of mechanics in limited contexts do take inspiration from soulslike titles. That's all the developer ever said and that's all I've seen anyone else acknowledge that wasn't trying to drag the game about it.

* GGG doesn't nerf builds during league anymore because people whine, hence why builds are trash compared to meta builds right now.

* Just don't run temporal chains right now?

* People who build high energy shield skip out on almost all other forms of defense and just opt for high ES and resists or build ES/Evasion, taking a physical hit with no armor is gonna hurt.

Well on his defense it doesn't help that on Steam Path of Exile II has the souls-like tag which means that a lot of people are saying that.

As you I played and finished (almost, never got the love for Demon Souls) every fromsoft game.

Only thing PoE 2 got from a souls game is "you die" a lot, otherwise everything that makes a fromsoft game great ggg couldn't emulate.

- The atmosphere
- The challenges
- The risk vs reward
- The slow and methodical bosses battle
- The gearing

Nothing... but, ggg made a great attempt to roguelike and RNG gambling into their game.
Agreed. This is nothing like souls. Elden ring is my favourite game of all time. Infact I came directly from elden ring to poe2.
Watched streamers hyping up the game saying it was a revolutionary mix of souls and arpg, which in theory sounds absolutely amazing.

I dont believe they have even attempted to mix in souls like. You can get a single unusable chest piece from a boss in elden ring that had taken you 70 attempts over 3 days and the rewarding feeling you get is insane, and this with basically no useful reward at all. This game can't be emulating souls like because it feels disappointing beating a boss or clearing a map. They have no idea how to incorporate souls.

Consort redahn was my over 50 attempt boss at expansion launch. Was a mix of trying solo and with team and omg did it feel great finally beating him lol definitely shout out loud with joy moment. My family thought I was nuts while playing that game lol. Maybe time to go back as I'm now remembering how good that game is.

Combat is fun in souls game.
If they want to make a souls game they have a 3d engine, use it make it 3d person and make the combat good.
