The mission is still there but the boss is gone

The situation is like this, I couldn't beat the Mad Wolf of Ogham in the first chapter, so I teamed up with my friends, but unfortunately I was disconnected halfway. When I came back online, the boss was killed by my friend, but my mission was still there. When I went in alone, the boss was gone but my mission was still lit.

You can fight Count Ogham again, even if you have defeated him.

You just need to either wait for the instance to time out (10-15mins) or else "control-click" the Ogham Manor waypoint on your map to force creation of a new instance. It sounds like you were still in the original instance when you went back in.

Hold the CONTROL key* while clicking on a map location or the door to an area to create a new instance. This is only necessary if the original instance is still open. The boss was only gone in the original instance that you and your friend fought him in.
[* Not sure of the exact button actions to do this on controller.]

There are exceptions -- some bosses like Lachlann (Act 1 Cemetery of the Eternals) can only be defeated once, but many or most boss encounters can be repeated.

The situation doesn't seem to be that simple. Following your steps to create a new instance on the map didn't work at all. Some monsters did refresh, but when I entered the boss room again, it was still empty. If possible, I can provide an account for you to test. I have been troubled by this problem for a long time.
That's odd. What you are describing sounds like what would normally happen if you were to choose "Respawn at Checkpoint" from the area after the boss fight was completed. "Respawning" after a boss has been killed will not respawn the boss (and a few other things).

I even made a point of testing this again for this boss, before telling you what to do. It should work. If it does not and we are talking about the same thing, you may need help from support for your character.

I just did it again, for what it's worth. I took a character back to Ogham Manor in both Acts 1 and 4 and fought Geonor again. I also went back again after killing him, control-clicked the Manor waypoint, and found and killed him again.
Spoiler
I even left the area during the final cutscene after defeating the Mad Wolf, before any loot dropped, to see what would happen if I wasn't present -- not quite the same, though: when I came back he was dead on the floor with no Hooded Man or cutscene, but after several seconds he "died" and loot was dropped. I repeated the fight, abandoned the boss before the cutscene and his death, then created a new instance and found and fought him again without ever being around for the prior boss's death.

Clarification: Ogham Manor is the final underground area in Act 1 -- you actually have to control-click the map waypoint in the underground map and not the related node on the surface map. I didn't mention that, sorry. Sounds like you have had this problem well long enough to not need to do this, though.

As mentioned, there is another "Count" in the first Act. His name is Lachlann the Lost and you meet him in the Cemetery of the Eternals before you get to Ogham Village (so also before the Executioner boss, the Ogham Ramparts, the Ogham Manor and the Act 1 Boss fight with Count Geonor aka the Mad Wolf of Ogham). His fight begins when you open the gates in the Cemetery and he comes face to face with the graves of his family. This boss fight is not repeatable and earns you Count Lachlann's Ring, which you use to revive the Hooded One. Completing this fight also unlocks the waypoint to the Hunting Grounds.

Assuming that you are not talking about this encounter, you do seem to have a problem with your quest state if you can't encounter Count Geonor in the Ogham Manor.

Ogham Manor has multiple floors. As you pass through each floor you will pass a hole in the floor and witness a cutscene related to Count Geonor and the Beast. This cutscene should repeat in a new instance for each floor. You also have an optional boss fight with Candlemass on the first floor. The final floor has an elevator that you take down to Geonor's boss arena. You first fight Geonor and then he turns into the Mad Wolf.

Do you see the cutscenes with Geonor and the Beast as you travel through the floors of the Ogham Manor building?

Is the Boss Icon for Geonor on your map still active, or is it greyed out, with an X through it? (Sounds like the former from your quest state)

Does the Hooded One offer the option to "Travel East" to Act 2, as he would if the boss has been defeated? (He stands off the right side of town after that fight.)
