The effects of having no +Life or +Life% in passive tree changes the play style significantly
Not being able to build "tanky" basically limits the game and players a lot.
A skilled player who likes dark souls type game play would be rewarded by building just damage due to faster clear speeds and more effective for winning league race. A casual player who doesn't expect to win league races, may be more careful and invest in more defence The only way people can do this right now is through building ES. The Balance should be around an evenly distributed 50/50 build with efficiently selected nodes. Those wanting a power fantasy can have it. Those wanting balance can have it. Those wanting to veg out and face tank things can have it. I am not advocating for a specific play style, but instead wanting the choice. Right now there isn't a choice and that sucks. Another thing is... why is the game balanced around softcore? The dev's have tried to make the game deadly so softcore people feel challenged and ultimately rewarded. Why not balance around hardcore? Softcore can then be the less sweaty mode that it seems a lot of people want and if you're chasing challenge and reward then you have hardcore. This gives the option of a softcore and a hardcore mode. By balancing the game around a difficult softcore, you have a hardcore mode and a extra punishing hardcore mode. This is another decision I think limits choices without people realizing it. If you're a softcore enjoyer, you're now basically forced to be more sweaty than you want leading to discontent. The shitty conditional dodge roll really doesn't help with the whole "skilled" gameplay, wish we had either true defenses or true invulnerability frames on dodge.
GGG is great at fence-sitting. |
