lost all boss loot from king in the mist

so my friend and i played king of the mist for the first time yesterday.

she died near the end of the fight, i killed the boss and a bunch of loot dropped.

she then clicked a box that she believes said "resurrect at checkpoint". in order to loot it with me right? cause the unique the boss dropped was greyed out for me presumably because she was the instance owner.

what happened was the arena reset, we lost all the loot and we were left standing in an empty arena post boss kill with no loot.



i dunno what the button she pressed was and she is in doubt because it happened fast. maybe if she resurrected in town she could either have come back in the portal or i could have at least picked up the unique drop?

but it doesnt matter either way.



the boss was dead so she shouldnt have been able to restart the encounter, and she couldnt restart the encounter because we didnt get to fight the boss again, somehow she reset the instance but not the encounter in the instance? the boss died, the encounter counted as being over and was not replayable but we also had our zone reset and lost all of our loot. theres no way any button she was given should be able to result in that happening and i cant believe that was intentional behaviour.

either the boss is alive and she resets the entire fight intuitionally or not or the boss is dead and we get the loot. any other outcome needs fixed imo, it was a massive downer after we spent a fair amount of time working out the fight etc, a real feels bad.

Yep if she had not respawned before you collected all the loot the instance would not have reset.

As for instance resets...I keep reading about how people can respawn at checkpoint to refresh boxes, or rares seen in an instance and I guess that had to be true at some point but no longer is as far as I can see.

It randomly respawns mobs and boxes but DOES NOT reset/respawn a "chapter boss" unless you reset the zone.

There is a banner on the screen during zone transfers that talks about how parties all go to the same instance etc, and in most every other multiplayer party game like this, if ANYONE zones/respawns from a death or leaves the zone it takes the whole party with them.

Harsh lesson, but just go kill him again..because really..you will end up trying to farm him a few times before realizing there is no point to doing so in normal campaign because the loot sucks 99% of the time until you get to Cruel anyways.
