Trials need to be removed from the game.
Trial of Sekhema is what made me and my girlfriend quit 0.2
Nothing screams "well playtested game" than getting a random "You have no Energy Shield" affliction, which immediately ends your run the frame you receive the affliction (because game thinks player "lost" energy shield = player needs to lose Honor). If a random dice roll can just kill you with 0 counterplay, then yea, not playing your shitty game. |

This content isn’t challenging, and it doesn’t require any skill to clear, just patience and walking on eggshells because of the honor system and all the tedious running around touching stuff repeatedly.
I’ve cleared it on 9 characters, and on all of them, the prior bosses and the final boss died in under 2 sec. It takes over 30 minutes(if you don't run out of honor) of running around just to reach the peak "content" which ends in about 2 seconds. It’s bad game design and should be handled differently. For example: make the bosses 10 or even 20+ times tankier or give it more mechanics but let us challenge them instantly. If you can beat them great. If not, then you can do the minigames until they make you strong enough to clear them. That way: People who enjoy trial minigames still win. People who don’t can skip them and go straight to the main boss fights=also a win. Last edited by Hardmare#4955 on Jun 25, 2025, 5:59:52 PM

I'm with you OP. Maybe the concept isn't the worst but the implementation sucks...especially the later ones because it's too time consuming and the thought of some random thing ending your run is not an enjoyable type of friction IMO. It makes me dread doing them at all.

+1 Trials sucks. There's 0 fun involved. Just rage enducing stupid mechanics. Play for 30 minutes - hour only to lose on last room to some idiotic mechanic.

Listen, this post only tells me one thing. This is either just a bait or it's genuinely a selfish mindset.
A game has to have multiple levels of content to entertain a wider audience. If you barrow down the amount of content to appease a certain amount of the gaming audience then you have the potential to increase your chances of the project being a failure. This is why an MMOrpg that is strictly a pvp section of the genre won't be successful is because it's a niche section. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist, I am part of the group for the most part of the agreement that I don't like the trials but I will say I am glad it's there because when I am completely burned out of the task list of things that keep me entertained I know I can fall back onto the Trials for a few hours and reset myself. But there are individuals out that that really enjoy the Trials, without the Trials those individuals will have a higher chance of just leaving the game when they either get bored or burned out. |

Completely disagree... Not even going to explain any further. One of the worse opinions on these forums.

I found the trials a lot more fun when i wasn't doing them to get my ascendancy but instead trying to farm some time-lost jewels. Not in favor of having them removed, but some changes to their implementation could be good.
There should be some obstacle we need to overcome to ascend, but sekhemas can be a 45min commitment where failure puts you back to the start. I prefer 2-5minute time commitments in poe. If I fail a 5 minute encounter a bunch of times, I feel frustrated but its 'whatever'. I fail sekhemas once and I alt f4. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

" Ok, so using that same logic, why are people forced to do this content if they don't like it? Isn't it selfish to force content onto people who don't like it? Ascending is an extremely integral part of the game. The overwhelming majority of people don't like this content - or at least the current iteration of it. I would argue this content existing is causing more people to burn out and/or quit playing than the other way around. Last edited by SplashKing#6352 on Jun 27, 2025, 10:15:11 AM

" tip from ssf: I also disliked this content till I learned the mechanics and got good at it. now its fun. I had no choice but to learn it, you have a choice to get a carry. |

While maybe not removed completely they definitely need to be cut in half time-wise(at least). I really don't see how having these mandatory chores adds much tbh, if anything they just makes people tap out or make them not even start again.
Also the randomness and jankyness of it all(especially when you do them the first times) is just awful and full of "gotcha" insta-fails, which to me is just bad game design and reminds me of those shitty NES games you played as a kid Ninja.
