Small confusion on first checkpoint

There's a checkpoint early on in the game where you need to activate a new skill gem that you pick up before you can get to the checkpoint. If you don't use the skill, a red wall will block your progress. This was confusing to me and I ran back to try to find something I missed, before activating the skill, and then triggering the dialogue "this is my path to power!"

I then ran back and was able to walk to the checkpoint.

Just something some new players might find confusing.
