Anyone have any performance tweaks for better FPS?
I have a 7800X3D, 32GB of ram, RX 6950XT, and play on a 32in 4K monitor.
I go from 130fps to 44 fps all the time. Its mostly when some cheesy explosion goes off. Its usually when there's a chaos or fire explosion. They look terrible, so I don't get why I get the frame drops. Any tips? Last bumped on May 2, 2025, 10:18:00 AM

Try and research into improving the cpu+gpu relationship, you have a very good cpu.
Basic overclocking on your CPU and GPU should be standard. Look into an app that forces PoE2 to use the latest FSR tech for your AMD gpu. Make sure POE is saving shaders to your fastest storage drive and not some old SSD (a lot of loading time increase if that's the case). Running at 4k if you are is greedy, reduce to 2k. You basically need as much responsive performance as possible from both your cpu and gpu to counter POE2's engine issue when it comes to certain things, like ignited/shocked ground on some maps with backgrounds will always cause slower fps when other assets like monsters and abilities arrive and if you have Ice Walls that explode it even gets worse, the game just isn't optimized enough to direct the gpu/cpu to work even harder when all these things come together, so just try to get your performance as absurdly solid as possible to compensate. If you can run in the harshest conditions at a solid 60fps, I think you're winnning. Last edited by TrunktenUK#3407 on May 2, 2025, 9:06:48 AM

I betcha if you look at your GPU graph when an explosion goes off, its 100 percent GPU usage along with lot of memory usage. There's a bottleneck only when that happens. Try an experiment, and play at 1440p, and see if the drops keep happening.

I used to run the game at 3440 x 1440, just bought the monitor recently. I still had problems at 1440p, not as severe, but still had them. I can run games like D4, Helldivers 2, Black Myth Wukong, and Red Dead Redemption 2 in 4K and most, if not all settings maxed out. I could try, Lossless Scaling from Steam. Thanks for your replies.
