Square Enix had the balls to scrap and redo Final Fantasy XIV. Should GGG do the same?
They should close down EA for a year and work on it. Get back to what was working. Solid PoE1 leagues. Once PoE2 is overhauled , open it again.

Interesting points you all make. I agree it would probably be a huge financial strain to GGG to 'redo' the whole thing.
But on the other side i see a LOT of 'features' in the current iteration of POE 2 that i think will not work in any way, no matter if they do changes to it. Those are: The parrying and blocking system. While that may work in a Game like Elden Ring, it will never work in an ARPG where you will eventually be surrounded by literally hundreds of enemies. Which of the 100 will you block, and what about the 99 that will hit you then? And it seems like GGG currently doesnt even understand where exactly the problem is. The only way i see to fix that one is completely remove it. The Trading System. Everything has been said about that one. It is an ancient atrocity that only favors one part of the community: the RMT crowd. Last Epoch showed you how it can be done. Learn from them. The Ascendancy trials: They are shit. Period. I would make a bet that less than 5% of the whole playerbase managed to get his or her 4th ascendancy. The Lootsystem. Loot is bland, boring, and the only dopamin kick youll ever get is from rare currency. Lets see if they can fix that. Crafting. This Game doesnt have it. It only has a RNG System that allows you to roll a dice and see what you get with nearly no way to influence it. Fixable? Maybe, if they do a 180 and remove the randomness completely and add about 500% more crafting options. The Defense layers: as of now, Armour is completely useless, ES has been crippled, and pure evasion also doesnt work. You need to rework the whole system and give the players WORKING defenses. And while you are at it, if you improve player defenses, how about this time you ONLY improve player defenses and dont extend whatever improvement you give, to the monsters too. Experience debt: Remove it. Yesterday. Post Death groundeffects? Remove them. Last week. |

" I like how they did things in PoE1 better ... specifically GGG would throw a TON of problems at the player and then give them the tools to SOLVE the problems. The problem now is that PoE2 presents problems but now instead of solving the problem (with some give & take) now you just mitigate some of the problems involved. Example: In PoE1 with some work and character building you could become fully ailment immune. Sure it took sacrifices on the passive tree, gearing, etc. but you could solve that problem. In PoE2 you might solve a problem for a few seconds (like stun immunity) but if you can't "screen wipe" in those few seconds OR 100% avoid the same issue (being stunned) for a long time then you're sunk. In PoE1 you could make up for some, in some leagues with some builds, all of the problems with taking big hits on an armour based character. Whether you scale armour into the MILLIONS at the high end of investment OR at the low end of investment you shift most of that damage into forms you can handle (elemental resistance .. or even Chaos resistance). In PoE2 if your concept is a mace wielding, Armour and Life only, melee character then you have only one real choice --- blow up the screen reliably before something could land a lucky hit if you weren't 100% on your game. |

" It’s fine to keep EA running, they just need to actually treat it as EA and change shit to sort it out. This gamr is currently being ran as a fully launched game with mtx shop and new leagues. |

Yes they should; take it offline and get their vision and systems to agree with each other before re-releasing, then listen to the feedback on whether its fun or not.
Games are supposed to be FUN! It's a subjective metric but if they can fix the risk/reward ratio they would be in a good spot. |

I don't believe POE2 is even remotely in the same place as FF14 1.0 was.
For context, I gave up FF14 1.0 because of RL circumstances but after I sort it out, I played 2.0 right from closed beta for years. FF14 1.0 was literally a "shut it down or redo the whole thing" situation. POE2 is not. FF14 1.0 was on a horribly outdated home-brew engine that wasn't even made to build MMOs, and their priorities were all over the place, with the modeling team spending months on a cabinet that would just be background furniture. One of the most famous tidbits was the fact that one flower pot next to the inn entrance had more vertices than player models. The performance was so bad, even with really high end PCs, that they were only able to display about 30 players at a time. The combat was a outdated mix of free movement interfacing in a twisted way with an almost turn-based combat, and combat itself felt mostly like you were in a chat room with some kind of combat animation playing in front of room. FF14 1.0 was dead on arrival, and it was a lost cause no matter who looked at it. POE2 is nowhere near that. Most of the problem I see with POE2 is the tuning of loot and the mis-guided vision of having "meaningful combat" along with swarms of fast moving trash that body block you and bum rush you at mach 5. But the technical parts of POE2 aren't beyond salvage. The art and models are fine. The sound design is great. The performance is fine even on my 5 year old graphics card. POE2 is in a very bad place and I wouldn't be surprised if it fails miserably and become the next big joke in the industry if they keep doing what they're doing. But it's not even remotely close to the state FF14 1.0 was in. |

Can't shut down EA when they already took people's money. That would also defeat the entire purpose of EA.
They need to get rid of the mindset that it's a finished game. Get rid of or reduce the amount of gold for passive changes. They think stuff like that can't be added back once taken away which is the wrong mindset for EA. Get rid of or severely reduce XP loss, announce that it may be added back after testing and feedback. Right now with the current balance it just doesn't work. Last edited by CovidPatientZero#4772 on May 1, 2025, 1:10:15 PM
