Unique - The Devouring Diadem, Health Loss Bug

While wearing this item, and despite the item description not indicating this effect, I've on occasion taken a massive amount of health loss (or quick DOT), despite no element or DOT afflicting the character.

I'm unable to reproduce the effect every time, but I've tested it on single creatures that don't have any DOT abilities and it does happen often enough that it's worrisome. Quite so in fact it finally managed to kill my HC character despite the use of potions as the health loss DOT outperforms my flask. I'm low level, but despite this, I can only assume that it's inversing the +20% max life based on the speed of health loss, thusly making it equally dead to anyone, no matter their total HP.
