Mana Cost of Attack's

For reference, here is my mana cost:
Level 25 Ice Shot have 72 mana cost, my character have a pool of 700 mana and 10
refil of 600 mana.

The mana cost for attacks is very high for pinnacle bosses at maximum level, at various times I find myself trying to attack without having mana and without having a refill, which is not cool, even sacrificing damage to use a gem with a lower mana cost does not solve the problem, I do not think the way to solve it is to use auto attack because it breaks all the fun of the player having built the character around a specific skill to use a crude little arrow.

They have a support you can use that lowers the cost by 30%

and this is nothing.
lets say you have 700 manapool, 100 manacost (real numbers) and 30% reduction with support gem.

we have good flask with 500 mana over 2s and 10 uses.

we have ~1.5 casts per second (not that fast as it could be)

we have ~5% of mana as regen per second. so for 700 mana - 35 per second.

so we use first flask to refill manacost of curse and other "support" spells. and have to redo them every 10 seconds (if we are good at building and have separate tree for skill effect duration for curses)

so at start of damaging we have 9 flasks left.

our manacost per second (including manaregen) is 100*0.7*1.5 - 35 -> 70 mana per second

lets say we have some cast-on-something that triggers some spells 2 times per second, lets say lightning ball for 50 mana -> 100 mana per second.

700/170 -> we have our mana out for 4.11 sec we can use flask 2 times and get back 1000 mana for 5.8 sec of damaging and we have to reapply our curses and stuff again for another flask used. so we have 6 flask uses left after 12s of combat. repeat damaging "phase" again and we have 3 flask left after 24s of combat and finally we are done at 40sec of combat (no reapply curses last time). so for boss with ~10mil of hp we have to damage 250k dps min. thats a lot

have you tried the support gem? I run a super heavy mana build and it solves most of my mana problems. I've had it on since level 25 (or maybe 30). THere are solutions to the problem and the solution is not changing the game. Learn to adapt and change your build. Its literally like 80% of the game is figuring out a build lol If you are still having problems send me your skill tree and we can work it out together.
I solved the problem, all the items that I spent hours farming, I saved in my chest and bought items without gem levels, losing 5 gem levels the mana cost dropped by half, this makes no sense at all and is counterintuitive because items with gem level are normally much more expensive and there is a reason for that, they are expensive because they do more damage and the mana cost is not absurd, which is wrong in this game in my opinion.
This is just my opinion and a conjecture, but mana costs, both low and high costs and in between, should be part of some skill tag identity: Spells to have high mana cost and impact, and melee to have near negligible mana cost to allow passive point allocations to defenses. Ranged attacks to go in between, but should have some kind of a disadvantage with enemies in melee range, because in typical story setting they are really disruptive. Would give some incentives and room to invest into crowd control.
+1 on this, mana costs for attacks are too high
Try casting spells. you hoes complain about asks? how about 1.4k mana per cast that does very little damage.
