Viper Napuatzi highlights something important (my first actual critique)

And as currency goes, and using before maps, I start building for maps in act 1 normal, with bossing contingency planned the whole time.

No big deal for me there.

It's interesting that you're talking about PoE 2 being simulated difficulty when the example you gave for Elden Ring is the epitome of simulated difficulty. And that is the case for most Souls-like games. Basic pattern recognition is not difficult. Rote memorization is not difficult. That is all the Souls-likes require. PoE 2 is not that different, pattern recognition and build crafting. Every encounter in the game can be overleveled and overgeared to the extent that you don't even have to do much, if any, mechanics. And conversely every encounter in the game can be done underleveled and undergeared if you have a strong grasp of the mechanics.

This is also true with the Viper fight. I can easily live through multiple rotations of the viper fight with 1k ehp. The only build I can even think of struggling with this fight might be a very slow build, but even then Viper is not particularly tanky. The spear stabs are easily rolled. The barrage just requires side stepping. It's a fight that really tests your ability to mechanically dodge things more than most fights up to that point.

Hey bro, you were stuck on the fight for 2 days, its a safe bet there is some issue. According to yourself its not your build or your gear, the only thing left is PEBKAC or the boss itself.

Given that I feel safe in saying that MOST people don't get stuck at Viper for two days, limited options remain for the issue.

Dory is way easier than Viper, mostly because you have space to work with and the ground isn't littered in bullshit.

Best of luck on your maps this patch.

for a bout 10 minutes straight
in 0.1 Viper was labelled as the hardest boss in the game because of the Spears. The timing for the roll has to be perfect. There is nothing wrong with the fight, she is fine. The area to get to her is more difficult than she is. Utzaal is a big spike compared to the rest of Act 3/6.

Things is Ive beaten that boss with 6 other characters and a pretty wide variety of builds. Even a pure evasion, 0 ES and low res Pathfinder (probably 1k EHP with 85% Evasion after acrobatics, and the highest res at like... 20% since I was stacking evasion), using a bow, not concoctions.

But anyway, this is what I get for wanting to hear from the community and maybe have a productive discussion about something that might be an actual issue, rather than just someone crying about 1 shots and how the game is trash.

This is probably my favorite game (or a close second to Monster Hunter: Wilds), but that boss rework is for the birds.

But I'm thinking my original post wasn't even read by the trolls anyway.

I'll go get good, while I stand outside.

EDIT: 2 days means probably 3ish hours including respec, regear, and fine tuning time. I have a day job and family, so I didn't mean a literal 48 hours of play time.

There seem to be an extra "zero" to the damage number for the spear wall gauntlet. It can kill you with 3000 EHP, while the boss's most announced attack does no more than 1/3 of that.

Yeah man, something's off with that fight since the patch.

But ask the other guys, I guess all my experience in this game means nothing once I bring up something legitimate as actual feedback, rather than just crying about the game.

Im not Alpha enough I guess, even though I've beaten that boss 12 or more times before this new patch, and even did once on normal with this same character, no issues. The cruel version is a bit over tuned, or something.

Geonor is (in my opinion) the most forced, dev try-hard, none interesting, annoying boss in the entirety of the game so far. Every time he goes into his "I'm gonna disappear and tell you a poem" phase, I literally want to uninstall the game. It's the most uninteresting, "let me show you how cool our devs are" content I've ever encountered in an ARPG. And I played Loki for years back in the day.

I don't care about your stupid poem, Geonor. It's the most forgettable part of the game.
