Feedback on Sceptres
Sceptres - Currently their only usability is for minions.
Like we in poe1 have auras that help us right? Well in here "persistent buffs", those that are helping the player, well, they are not buffing the player that much are they? The issue i see in Sceptres, i see a Stoic Sceptre, that has discipline, i would like for me to have discipline, or from other bases, Purity of Fire, and have some more spirit with it for MYSELF only because thats the only way to get persistent buffs, but as long as ALL scepters will always roll minion explicits, they are kinda useless items for any build that dont use minions. And lets be real, the people that indeed play minions, not many will take a base that gives a buff when they can have a base that increases their minion numbers for free, because you cant dual wield them, its just one or another. So the main point that i want to make, would be cool for sceptres to be usable and useful for non-minion builds, like removing minion mods from the buff sceptre bases, and if that its not to your liking, at least to be able to dual wield sceptres, so it makes a better point for them to also use the buff bases sceptres, not feeling like you are missing out on a "real sceptre" if indeed you are playing minions, and if we go there, for wands too, would be nice to be able to dual wield them. Also to slide this one in considering i mentioned dual wielding, i want to be able to use 2 flasks of life or 2 flasks of mana, and that unique belt aint cutting it. Anyway, just my personal opinion, i can live with the current flasks but sceptres REALLY need a change, i consider its pretty important to increase how much creativity a player can have when making a build, so we don't feel like "this is the only way of playing it right". Thank you for taking the time reading this. Last edited by Dhuma#1437 on Apr 15, 2025, 7:40:33 PM Last bumped on Apr 15, 2025, 8:28:54 PM

Edited above a bit just to make sure i was sending the right message i was intending. (edited this one here too cuz i misspelled something)
Another thing i forgot to mention, i tried playing around with minions a bit, i wanted to check out having a specter, but damn son, i know people found some cheap ones but literally every one i was thinking into taking an interesting monster, the spirit cost was too high, like in my personal playthrough, all monsters that ive seen when checking out the bind specter, there was none cheaper than 70 spirit, most of them were 100 spirit, even one 130 spirit, like, not even that great / dangerous / useful monsters. How are we in a minion build supposed to integrate one or two specter in there, when they are so expensive, in only node in the tree with 8% increased spirit aint helping that much, only having 1 sceptre its not enough, spirit on body armor and amulet its still not enough to have a decent amount of spirit for half of the thing you would generally want to do with it, and the only ascendancy that helps with spirit its infernalist, lich has nothing related to spirit, the Lich that literally has the art with zombies around and such. Dual wielding sceptres would make a pretty good difference in this issue, also reworking some monster cost in binding specter would not be a bad idea Last edited by Dhuma#1437 on Apr 15, 2025, 7:58:17 PM

in .1 actually would have argued sceptre/wand or sceptre/foci was ideal for all spellcasters.
This was because spirit was so good. as Archmage, cast onc rit, cast on dodge were so good. archmage was of course directly nerfed. reducing its damage scaling, and increasing its mana cost. CoC, as well as every other trigger gem was nerfed due to all sources of mana stacking being nerfed and reduced. its no longer viable to really afford the mana costs of CoC, etc. mana rolls on gear were lowered. and Eldritch battery was nerfed into oblivion. so yes now, the demand for high spirit is much lower. grim feast was replaced with Convalesce. For casters, sceptres can roll max mana, inc spirit, inc spirit/mana for affixes. str, int, mana regen, mana regen/light, inc presence area of effect for suffixes. Malice aura uses presence aoe. and is itself a useful debuff for all spellcasters. discipline now as well. but presence aoe nerf makes getting +presence aoe a nigh requirement. and malice instances dropping off is horrible. I can't actually recommend malice aura. if we had enough mana to actually use CoC, AM, invocations, etc, then sceptres would be viable for spellcasters again. their mana based rolls would be fine. they REALLY should have the option for +1-3 all spell skills though. other Atypical things as well. If wands have spell crit, damage, and Damage gained as x. sceptres should have other options. +skill duration. +aoe. Hybrid builds are not allowed. agreed. minions require going all in, except for soulfeast weapon swaps. tame beast has insane Dex requirements. this is weak design. |
