Playing anything besides LS feels bad.. is it going to be 3 months of LS?

Sorry to necro this thread. I just started with PoE2 this week. As I mentioned in my other threads I am more of a fanatic D4 player. I played PoE1 last year in Xbox to get a feeling for PoE2 when it released in December but didn't get a chance to play any because of work and other IRL reasons.

This week I started with PoE2 using Huntress LS build simply because I played Spiritborn in D4. I have zero idea of what the meta is. I didn't even know 0.3 will come soon in Aug 29th. I basically KNOW NOTHING, but I wanna approach the game with an open mind.

Act 1 actually FEELS BAD. Mind you this is NORMAL mode. I almost quit multiple times because that Count Geonor keeps pawning me. I was running LS, and obviously under geared, under powered, and clueless. No idea what the builds are. I'M NOT FOLLOWING ANY BUILDS because like I said I want an open mind. Not even reading the forums except for what the patch notes are and issues with MTX for PoE1 to PoE2.

My point is LS didn't feel great for a noob like me. But I decided to persevere. I spent almost a day farming and leveling in Act 1 until I get enough DPS on my LS Huntress. I learned thru trial and error that I have to upgrade my sockets, skills, synergize my skill tree (I'm banking on my intensive D2 and D4 experience and noobish knowledge of PoE1).

Well, after I beat Act 1, suddenly LS felt great. The progression is smooth. As of now I am on T9 doing early mapping. It feels like early game Season 5 D4 Lightning Spear Sorc dejavu lol.

Gonna roll with LS Huntress again in 0.3, regardless if there's a nerf or not, because this month is just purely LEARNING experience for me.

Edit: I guess to be precised I am running LS and Primal Strikes. LS is my mob clear but for killing bosses and rares, Primal Strikes is my main skill. I use Parry and Frost Nova for defense. High movement speend and Thunderous Leap for mobility

Not sure why it's been a theme since 0.3...LS is definitely not the only viable and fun build.
Tech guy
If you're a meta slave you will most likely always have a bad time.

But they'll have a great time complaining that "nothing is viable" on this forum until there's a youtube video about something new with a :O thumbnail and a title calling it the most broken skill in the game. lol

You're right it isn't. I've leveled 6-7 different builds on different classes to 92-95, all have been viable able to do maps and bosses. Right now I'm playing bloodmage with crit spark, I'm having a blast with it and potentially be my main. High damage light everyone wants but comes when the the risk of one shots because of life usage so that keeps me ony toes a lot of times.

Count Geonor is basically a dark souls boss. You can beat him with a twig if you know the fight well enough and have the patience. But it is a difficult fight the first time you do it.

I agree. Last night I created a new account to try to apply things I have learned. Surprisingly Act 1 is now much, much easier. I didn't use any of my existing currencies to beef up my new char so I can see if there's any improvement in my skill and understanding of the game.

I beat Geonor with minimal issues with my Huntress wind build. What helped was getting used on dodge roll and boss movements (things I learned with my first char, lvl 90 Huntress) and using everything I picked up to upgrade everything (again I didn't use any of my existing currency to get a better perspective).
