The minion struggle

RE: sillywet

Constructive feedback... maybe share your super secret combination of minions that work for you? You sound like a vaal guard hero to me. I've tried about 7 different types of minions, multiple spectres, and various combinations. They all seem to share the basic core problem of low survivability particularly when you get into T17 content, slow if they are melee, stupid with los and generally weak if they are ranged, or 99% useless and do not justify the spirit cost as a spectre. Please show me the way though.

Pretty sure its just ragebait, "minion not bad, my minion work, doesnt matter the 200 others doesnt, just dont play them lol, you mad coz bad" nobody thinks like that ;)

Also the issue isnt lvl 30 minions right, its all the way from the first bosses, where you just run in circles with dead minions, shouldnt be designed around just waiting 8 seconds constantly right

Full of lies, the post. Link pob and details about your supposed giga minion build, otherwise go away.
I've invested pretty heavily into minion revive time and their health/res on the passive tree and my Priests are using Last Gasp. I don't notice my army ever being wiped out.

How would you balance it? If they weren't dying, why would you ever pick any minion survival node?

I'm picking every minion single survival node, running 3 priests, and they can still die to a single T17 or uber boss cleave/aoe.

Most games solve this in one of many possible ways...

1) Boss cleave/aoe hits simply do less damage to minions.
2) Minions when they are summoned have a grace period where they are damage immune (this was medium cluster in PoE 1)
3) Actually balance the survivability of the minions themselves to handle end game content when you take every single survivability node.
4) Make the minion AI smart enough to actually move out of the way
5) Give you a useful tool to move them on demand, convocate?
6) Adjust some of the specific boss fights where this is a blatent issue.

Any of those options would suffice. You pick those nodes so that they DON'T die, right now they still can and do.

Yeah I am hoping they will maybe adress some of the current minion issues this week...at least the bugs with storm mages attacking out of range or spectres staying in their wisp form :(. If not, I will have to respect to another ability.

Also they should not die to boss abilities 24/7 and I would love to have an ability where I can give them orders who to attack.

And they need to look at the spectres again, the only good one is vaal guard....but only if you don't want to see anything from the game.

But there is, I command them to attack a specific enemy all the time.

It is under the input config menu, you can bind a key to control minions movement and target. It should be clearer to the players. I've written about this problem and some solutions help mitigating the issue on this thread:

[Control Schemes] thoughts on control schemes for each class or something like it?
