A True-SSF-Experiment during EA - can we give it a try?
|
We have alot of topics about SSF being in a bad spot. Playing SSF means, you get to enjoy a true Singleplayer-Experience, but since the game evolves around Trading/Multiplayer, SSF players have a hard time to get decent equipment upgrades or certain rares/uniques. Especially since there is no viable crafting right now.
So I suggest, to implement a True-SSF-Mode. Characters in this mode can not and can never migrate to multiplayer, even after they have been transfered to the standard leagues. It is a true Singleplayer character. And thanks to this, it allows to change the rules a little bit for True-SSF players. And by little bit, I mean the loot table. Increase the loot drops significantly. So much, that a player can, with a little bit of grinding, get what he/she wants. Because right now, a SSF player has little to no chance of getting certain builds going, because it's just so unlikely that certain equipments/orbs will drop at some point. And this could change in a true SSF-mode. I suggest this now, because EA would be the right time to test it. If no one plays it, you can get rid of it again. If the majority plays it, it is a good indicator, that players prefer a good loot table over the possibility to trade. And you can use this information to make this game even better. " That's exactly how SSF feels right now. I think starting with some basic changes, like locking SSF so you can’t migrate to Standard and splitting chat channels based on the mode you choose, would already be a solid first step. I don’t think they’re gonna do anything about SSF in this patch, which will probably push me away from this league entirely, but hey, at least the feedback is out there for the upcoming ones. Not every player wants to progress through a trade-based system. In the meantime, I do believe that improving Standard mode will also benefit SSF to some extent, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to leave SSF forgotten by the devs. It definitely deserves attention, and it should never just mirror Standard, because they’re two completely different experiences. |

I've only played SSF in PoE2 and I don't want different drops than trade, nor will I migrate out of SSF.
And again, GGG doesn't balance around SSF, we were lucky to get the mode at all. | |
" This is known by everyone, but the question is, if this is a good decision. I really know no one who really likes the trade system. Most people just stick with it because there's no really alternative, unless you plan to grind hundrerds of hours for certain uniques or enough orbs to "craft". Why force a trade system on players, who play PoE2 99% of the time Singleplayer? It doesn't make sense. |

" Yup SSF here love it as well. Dont want special treatment either. Mash the clean

I agree with this thread. I too would want a 'True' SSF mode with an increased drop rate of all items. I never want to do trades. Defeats the purpose of a self mode.
I just read that LE2 offers a True Self mode with increased drops. They even offer an offline mode too...this does not make POE2 look good in my eyes. This sucks man cause LE2 looks too gaudy for me to play. It lacks good visuals. The gameplay does look solid though. |

" Well if that's true, good bye PoE2 and welcome LE2! |

" I mean, LE2 is a different game with a different experience. So sadly, even though LE2 offers a true and good SSF mode that enables players to play all builds without relying on trade at all, it's just not PoE2. That's why I suggest it here. Also, some people argue that another mode would divide the playerbase even more. But I don't see how another SSF-Mode would divide the playerbase even more. Think about it: 99% of the players are playing solo anyway. The only 2 elements that "connect" players are Chat and Trade. And SSF players can't participate in Trade anyway and SSF players are also allowed to chat with those that are not SSF players. So what's the problem giving SSF players just another choice? I'm a working person with a child, so my time to play is restricted. I simply can't play SSF because I dont have the time to grind and playing by trade always feels like not achieving something yourself, because I have to depend on those who have more time/luck on their hands and buying items from them. I understand that there are SSF players who like the current way it is. But to make SSF work, you just need more time and grind then someone not playing SSF. And that's time I dont have, but I still would like to experience the game in a way that allows me to say "I achieved everything myself". And the only way I can imagine that this would work is another SSF mode that forces players to stick with it, but you gain the benefits of better loot. And I suggest this now, because it's EA and GGG could take a look if people actually want and play it or if it's a complete fail. The good thing about such a mode is, that it probably would also attract more players, especially if people could also play this mode Offline. Then it would be a true Singleplayer Experience. |

wudijo gives his take on SSF mainly focused on the crafting aspect.
i find it interesting how much of his gear he got from early on and how little options he had to progress his gear granted he got through the game but when a grinder like him who doesnt really complain or milk hate points out a few problems GGG should take note https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZgtKhgTfps maybe for balance purposes they should get rid of IIR fix the drops then add it back later Last edited by tarloch#1873 on Apr 17, 2025, 3:34:41 AM

" Yes, that's the thing. Especially since there is no viable way of crafting (just to random) and scarce loot, SSF is in a bad spot, especially for those players who don't have time to play 8 hours a day and grind everything. |
