Game will not launch after fresh Windows Install (POE2)
Greetings. I reinstalled windows 11 on my machine and Path of Exile 2 will no longer launch. When you launch the game it crashes before it is able to get to the title screen. While the grinding gear logo starts to show the video stutters, shows a lot of blue tiny rectangles and then closes. Other games work just fine (Baldurs Gate 3, Gloomhaven, Project Zomboid, REPO, Diablo 4, and World of Warcraft.).
I reinstalled windows after upgrading from a NVIDIA Titan X video card and having a few windows system file errors. I figured with the new video card it was time to start fresh again. Did you download the standalone client or install the game through Steam? I’m wondering if perhaps the game requires C++ redistributables, which may not have been included as part of the installation process. It’s just my first though that’d explain this.
While it really shouldn’t cause this, did you download the Nvidia driver is is it using Microsoft’s basic display driver? You didn’t include the full DxDiag report, so I can’t see driver info. If you performed a fresh Windows install, anything on top of the previous one will have been lost. Did you download & install up-to-date drivers for your system? They’re most likely available as free downloads from the website of your motherboard manufacturer. Unfortunately, GGG has a policy of not providing technical support, so this’ll need to be a community effort. If you want to verify that, you can email techsupport@grindinggear.com Today… by divine decree… your patch of Excel, begins.

TY Sarno for your suggestions.
So.. after days of troubleshooting. Summary Win 11 24h2 is the devil. I could not get PoE2 to work at all with either a NVIDIA 3060 or my old Titan X card. The game stutters and crashes constantly. I've tried a LOT of the online posts to try and bypass cores on your GPU.. set rendering to Vulkan.. There are a bunch of things out there any quite frankly after dealing with all of this I don't feel like typing everything out. GGG really needs to look into the latest win 11 version to try and see what is causing this game to break on so many PC's if you upgrade to the version. I know the finger can be pointed at Microsoft as well.. But if you have a product on the market that needs to evolve you need to work on it. The lack of support is absolutely frustrating. Current Win Version Win 11 23h2 I still could not get PoE2 to run on this build with my Nvidia 3060. Every other game runs perfectly fine. Diablo 4, WoW, BG3, Project Zomboid, Repo, and a few others. I swapped my old card back in and I am able to get PoE2 "stable" with it where I can consistently get past the loading screen and in game. I have to deal with slow or no rendering sometimes due to the age of the graphics card (from what I can tell). Again, all my other games work absolutely fine with this card. I was leaning towards the issue being completely tied to my motherboard and only having PCIE 3.0 ports (Even though the 3060 is backwards compat with 3.0) but with every other game working fine? /shrug This whole endeavor with no way to open an actual support ticket with the company that you purchased a game through is infuriating. I miss how companies actual cared enough to provide good support for their products like in the past. |
