How can you not want screen clears and have fast mobs at the same time?

I thought when Ziz brought it up during the interview that mobs at least in the campaign were not too fast. I was able to with a very underpowered character (Huntress) kite them around.

I asked myself why is he making such a big deal out of it?

Go play Steppes with monsters have increased attack speed/movement speed. If you do not one or two shot the gorillas you will die and there's no real escape besides staying close to your portal.

We cannot have fast mobs, no powerful defensive mechanics, and also not have one shot screen clearing builds if we get swarmed and stunned that fast. Not only is it not fun, kills the ARPG fantasy, is frustrating, kills hardcore, and harms progression it just does not work. The tools are not there to be able to clear-
unless you find a build thats OP (this is most PoE players idea of getting good)

Like even your own end game mechanics make it silly for you to not want screen clears.. have you seen how many mobs come at you in breach and they do not last long and you're supposed to go click on stuff while these multiple rare packs are attacking you? I'm on the most powerful build I know of Lightning spear and while I can kill elite packs sometimes even in one shot I cant do it continuously fast enough and that already is making breach not nearly as fun.

Like it is very simple if you want slower combat methodical combat (which I don't want btw) you have to slow down the monsters too.

I know a lot of people that play PoE did not like Diablo III but to me while it wasn't as good of a game as PoE the combat was more interactive. Before the power creep there were some really solid times I had on that game they gave you tools, maybe too many tools to solve increasingly harder mobs. Now I know the vision at GGG will never be me being able to cyclone strike a ton of mobs together, gather full screens of mobs, keeping my Damage Reduction up interactively putting exploding palm on them and then trying to kill the mob with it so I could get a screen clear but that combat actually was slower and methodical. Inna's Palm/TR EP was the most fun I've had on any ARPG ever before they ruined it (and before you got to a Rift Guardian that didnt spawn adds)

PoE is the game that was more like Diablo II where I had my Javazon/buriza and I was able to fulfill a power fantasy of right clicking and screen evaporates while still occasionally coming across bosses or rare mobs that could put up a fight and you needed to dodge mechanics and avoid.

This middle ground just feels bad. If I want a game where I have to parry I'll go play a fighting game or a souls game.. this game was working better pre patch because at least you had pretty hard control over mobs. The most fun I've had in PoE2 was probably killing Xescht and I cannot imagine how much of a pain in the ass it will be to do Xescht 4 on a Huntress.

Just some thoughts

yuuup.

if they want souls like combat they are gonna need souls like mobs.
packs of 4, slow as shit, 1 attack every 2 seconds, 1-2 shots to kill them.
boss design would also need to completely change.

itll never ever work in an iso-arpg.
Another case of "I used to zoom zoom, can't anymore, game sucks", how long will it take before you realize slower ARPGs are not for you?

Pumping a character for 30 hours only to realize that you've got shit? Excellent deceleration

Why not?

I'm more in favor of 1 style combat. But the more I play 2 the more I can see how something like what you've described, with actual good loot, could actually be a fun game. I didn't try No Rest for the Wicked yet, but concept doesn't seem inherently broken. Just don't call it an ARPG and PoE2 if that's what you're doing.

it is poe2, it is an arpg lol.
itll never work because thats not what the overwhelming majority of arpg players want

Moon Studios has officially declared independence, stating, “We have secured the publishing rights for No Rest for the Wicked, allowing us to execute our vision without restrictions.” The announcement was made in the latest Wicked Inside Showcase 2, posted to the official Moon Studios YouTube channel

The "Vision" worked so well for them that the publisher was willing to part ways with their "in perpetuity, forever, no matter what" type of contract rights.
microsoft also decided they werent a studio worth working with and cut ties.
Because its boring to one-clear the whole map.
Too broken.
economy dies.

I also don't understand why some people don't realize that PoE2 is ACTUALLY just not made for you. 0.2 is fine.

If you like 0.1 (full map clear with 1 button),
then I have to disappoint you, PoE2 is not supposed to be that. Then you can go, it's ok, there are 1000 other video games.
