Request for Performance Optimization – 120 FPS at 4K Max Settings on RTX 4090

Dear Grinding Gear Games Team,

First, thank you for your incredible work on Path of Exile 2. The gameplay direction, visual overhaul, and mechanical depth you've showcased so far are nothing short of impressive. It’s clear a lot of passion and effort is going into making PoE2 a generational leap forward for the ARPG genre.

That said, I’d like to bring up a performance-related concern that I and others in the community have encountered. Despite running the game on high-end hardware—specifically an RTX 4090, Ryzen 9 7950X, and 64GB DDR5—the game currently averages around 80 FPS at 4K max settings, with dips into the 40FPS in combat-heavy scenes or complex environments.

Given the caliber of hardware, many of us were hoping to see more consistent frame rates, ideally locked at 120 FPS or higher, especially considering the fluidity and responsiveness required in an action RPG like Path of Exile.

I understand that PoE2 is still under active development and polish, and that optimization is likely ongoing. However, I wanted to raise this now while there’s still time to potentially address these issues before full release. Supporting high-end systems more effectively with better GPU scaling, multi-threading, or additional performance settings would go a long way in helping the game shine for players with enthusiast-grade rigs.

We all want PoE2 to be the best it can be, and ensuring smooth performance on current top-tier hardware is a key part of that experience. I truly appreciate your dedication to the community and your track record of engaging with feedback.

Thanks for your time and continued hard work.

Thank you kindly,

DonRuthless

Just to add to this, I have a mid range rig and the campaign the performance does not drop below 60fps.

As soon as I hit maps, fps can go down to 20fps.

If I compare this to Diablo 4, Diablo 4's performance is flawless. The entire screen can be filled with mobs and particle effects, and no fps drops are felt.

This just discourages me from engaging with the end game.
The game is CPU bound, there's just too much crap happening every second, you're blowing up 20 mobs with each hit and each one of them explodes with projectiles ETC.
I do 100% agree!

I tried to lock my frame rate at 120 fps, and the stutters from that KILLED the game.

This game really need some kind of fix. I really dont know how they can make this so CPU based. I got a 4080 and everything is on low settings and still the game drops below the 40 fps range. Its just crazy stupid.

And while the servers are DDOS attacked the game becomes UNPLAYABLE!

I jump around on the screen, cant see myself at all some times. Before I know it I have died because of it. Lost XP and insane frustration. I understand that we need penalty, but with the state of the game as of now.. I understand that people are playing something else.
yeah very painful I bought a recommended-specs machine to play and it's constantly dropping into 40s in campaign, maps can go to 25.
